Clinton's actions by signing Don't Ask Don't Tell and DOMA ruin quite a few gay people's lives. However I agree with you on the banks hypocrisy.

so a bank that freely violates the law, commits massive fraud, launders drug money and lies to investors is too moral to take money from porn stars.
one of the things i realized as an ex-jw is that masses of people are deceived and distracted by sexual mischief/sins while ignoring vastly more harmful wrongdoing in general society.

just to share a little about me:.
i was recently appointed an elder, about 6 months ago now, and that is exactly two years after my awakenning, but funny that the appointment came also about 2 years after i had completely lost all faith in god and had been leading a full time anti-jw life .
makes you wonder the role of the holy spirit in the entire nomination or appointment process.. .
HE,
You're a spineless coward!

when i worked for a book store i became familiar with beka text books for home school.. i spoke with the mothers who came looking for them.
i realized something didn't smell right.. then, i realized there are a couple of generations of fundamentalist kids who have had no exposure.
to the scientific method, science facts or any conversancy with physics or biology or history as a result of beka textbooks.. in a nutshell here is the situation:.
DesirousOfChange,
I went to a private liberal arts college in my early 20s and I met several students who were home schooled and they did quite well. One of them today is a pediatrician. I have a cousin who was home schooled and is an RN. I have an aunt who was valedictorian of her class and she became a teacher and when she had kids when she found out that all the kindergardeners would do was play she taught them the first several years of school before sending them to public school and resuming her teaching. The educational system here in the states is a bunch of shit and if I had kids I would never educate them in the publish school system.

in the july 2014 study wt article titled "jehovah's people "renouce unrighteousness".
par 9 and 10 .
9. how did foolish and ignorant debates affect the early christian congregation?.
But what was written in the book (or should I say letter) of Timothy was not "God's word", it was Paul's words. The words were not even Jesus' words, however I do "reject empty speeches" since I don't listen to their bullshit anymore.

just read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.
congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.
congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.
LHG, a lot of the people still in the organization are not trapped it. Many of them want to believe it because they are getting some benefit from the organization and they will do anything the organization tells them to; a lot of people that are still in are that far gone and can't and will not change. It's like a terminal cancer there is no cure for and the patient will take the belief with them to their graves.

i feel like i wasn't allowed to read a lot of books when i was younger, a lot of which i'm discovering are positivly phenomenal.. i was allowed to read edgar allan poe, who remains my all time favorite writer.
but, i've discovered the joys of stephen king, anne rice, joyce carrol oats, neil gaiman, george r. martin, david sedaris... and so so so many more.. i'm currently getting through "the shining" so i can move on to "doctor sleep".
i'm interested to see if anyone else that discovered the many joys of "worldly" literature, jumped immediately into what they weren't allowed to read... and what was your favorite?.
Right now I'm about to start A Prologue To Love by Taylor Caldwell. I read her book Captains and the Kings and I was hooked to her writing. I read Testimony of Two Men and Ceremony of the Innocent and The Devil's Advocate. Many of her paperback covers of her books look like cheap romance novels, however within her writings are deep insights into human nature and world events.
