  Why Rational People Buy Into Conspiracy Theories?

  my wife is taking a literature course at a local college.

  this was her final topic of the semester: why rational people buy into conspiracy theories?i automatically thought of this site and of jws.

  Because some (not all) of the "conspiracy theories" have actually turned out to be true.

  Can you prove that WT policy of shunning is unscriptual? Will soon be discussing with somebody, give me all your ammo!

  so any scriptures, articles whether wt articles or secular about effects of shunning, etc, or your arguments against how wt interprets their scriptures, etc.

  The way I look at it Christians are suppose to be followers of Christ. I don't ever recall any examples where Jesus actually shunned anyone; only Paul came up with shunning as far as I can see and we are not suppose to be followers of Paul (man).

  The Watchtower used the term "double life" in the past. I remember back in the 80s there would be articles in The Watchtower warning youths to "Guard Against Living A Double Life".

  that was a quote from a dyed in the wool jw recently.

  it was a complaint.. we all know that with 'new light(tm)' that the watchtower corporation's version of 'religion' has kept changing for a long time.

  i approached them and they were all glee and smiles and ready to hand me a couple of magazines.
