I am actually taken back at all this outrage. A lot of people here expressing this outrage had been going to the kingdom hall for years and heard all this vitriol from JWs in and out of the kingdom hall but apparently didn’t have a problem with homophobia until something happened to them personally, more than likely that didn’t have anything to do with homosexuality, but now that they are out of the kingdom hall and no longer a JW they express this outrage at an anti-gay message they send out. Surprise everyone! Despite a few legal victories the LGBT may have won through the courts, gays are still treated and viewed like “backdoor n***rs” of the 50s in many places and that kind of treatment is endorsed in the guise of religious liberty.

Most if not all adults who are anti-gay and have children teach them that homosexuality is bad and a lot of kids pick that stuff up very early in school on the playground so this video doesn't really surprise me. I'm used to this sort of masked hate or strong aversion toward people who are gay since I have had to deal with it all my life even before I even knew or accepted the fact that I liked guys. Nothing new here!

It is inciting self-hate for the gay person watching the video. Anybody who identifies as gay in the organization and views this video just has their self hated reinforced, so it incites hate in that way.

Here's the thing: These devout JW parents want their kids to grow up JW and remain JW throughout their lives. They sincerely believe is the best way for their children to live their lives.

If these JW parents are as "devout" as they say, they wouldn't even have children to begin with "deep into the conclusion of the system of things" when "armageddon could come at any time".

I remember reading an awake article that was making reference to his song Darling Nikki when the Purple Rain album came out, discussing the immorality of the music back then but I don't remember the date of the magazine.

When you think about the nominees for the Grammy song of the year in 1971 choices being Let It Be by the The Beatles, Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel, Close To You by The Carpenters, Everything Is Beatiful by Ray Stevens and Fire And Rain by the James Taylor and think about the songs released today there is no comparison to the music now and the music back then.

Sweet 16 - Happy Birthday to Us !

it's the forum's 16th birthday today!.

amazing that not only have we lasted so long but we're still thriving and growing.. thanks to all the people and often colorful characters who've contributed to the site over the years.

some are still here with us, some have since moved on, but all have touched each others lives in some way along our different journeys.. .
