I haven't seen all the episodes of South Park but love watching it. Has JWs ever been featured on the show? I would like to see an episode like that.

WTS Bills US JWs $8.4 million for Traveling Overseers
by ezekiel3 inbeing announced at service meetings this week at all us congregations:.
a letter read during the announcements states that due to increased costs of health insurance and vehicles provided for traveling overseers (circuit and district overseers) the watchtower bible and tract society has determined the need to ask for a specific "contribution" for the "traveling overseer assistance arrangement".. .
until this date expenses of this sort were paid from the worldwide work or general fund of contributions.. .

It's disgusting that they would actually have the nerve to ask for money for health insurance and car insurance for these overseers when a large percentage of others in the organization don't have insurance of any kind or barely a roof over their head.

What's the most thought-provoking novel you've ever read?
by lucky ini'd have to say for me that it was ayn rand's the fountainhead.
even though i don't agree with a lot of her philosophy, it definitely made me stumble around in a thought-induced haze for a few weeks after reading it.

Pot calling the kettle black...
by undercover ini don't know if the story about a preacher in nc kicking out members of his church for voting for kerry made it here to the site or not:.
http://www.cnn.com/2005/us/05/07/church.politics.ap/index.html the preacher has since resigned.. anyhoo, a jw relative of mine read this in a local paper and made mention of it.
they said something to the effect that the preacher was misguided and was trying to force his opinions on others.

I just paused and waited for the foot to go further in the mouth... Then they said that it was great being in the "truth", that would never happen there.
You could have added that it is ironic that the main founder of the organization is always pictured as having a beard but no male JW could be used in the congregation at all if they grew one under any circumstances.

So I'm at the meeting tonight.............
by JV ini'm looking through the new awake magazine (great article on shoplifiting by the way) and this older sister comes and sits beside me.
she started talking to me about this great little piece in the magazine about fish or something that should be on my dinner plate, something that i don't really care about, then she turns to me and said and i quote " where else but jehovah's organization can we learn such things?
i sat there with a dumbfounded look on my face thinking " are you kidding me?

The congregation we were in everyone understood the need for her to go back to school to be able to support herself.
You must have been to a very spiritually weak congregation since I was led to believe that anybody who considers going to college to support yourself is demonstrating a lack of faith, spiritually weak or both. Just seek the kingdom and his righteousness and ALL other things will be added to you.

I remember when I first went to college back in the late 80s I was in a McDonalds, where I worked at the time, I had some of my books with me and I was in the lobby about to leave. I can't remember why I had some of my books with me that morning. I had just finished an early morning shift and somebody older than I that I really didn't know that well was from a neighboring congregation was there. I really didn't know him but he knew me and approached me and asked me if I was in college and I said yes and he reacted as if I joined a branch of the military and walked away shaking his head and I was like WTF?
And they say they aren't against higher education but back then if you heard the talks at the assemblies you would have heard otherwise.
