What's The First "Worldly" Thing You Did When You Exited The Cult?
by pale.emperor inwhen you finally and officially exited the cult, whether it be by disfellowshipping, disassociating or fading - what was the first things you did that are considered "worldly"?.
for me, it was like crash landing on another planet that looked like earth but was completely different to the earth i knew.
i wanted to learn everything that i thought i already knew.. first things i did:.

JWs always use this scripture to show that we should not put our trust in man made rulership and governments:
Psalm 146:3,4 “Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, who cannot bring salvation. His spirit goes out, he returns to the ground. On that very day his thoughts perish.”
However they never mention the part about not putting trust in “a son of man”, which is what Charles Russell, Rutherford, Knorr and the now present collective governing body are. They even use the term “govern”. Below are the synonyms for the word “govern”.
synonyms:
rule, preside over, reign over, control, be in charge of, command, lead, dominate
It seems to me that according to the words in their own bible the concept of a governing body is unscriptural. Like one poster said earlier, there is no true organization only true individuals. If Christians are all "brothers" they are all equal and therefore the is no place for a hierarchial structure of "heavies" like the JWs have.

DJS,
You can take my statement for what it's worth. I just call it as I see it. Wasn't trying to be "witty", "creative" or "cruel" and you might want to get to know me more before you make some stupid asinine comment about me hating gays since I happen to be gay myself.

Obama supporters and the mainstream media uses the term "conspiracy theorists" and "birthers" as buzzwords like the Watchtower Society uses the terms "apostates", which makes sense since both have cult followers.

Captains and the Kings by Taylor Caldwell is one of my favorite novels. I get something new out of it every time I read it. Very informative in what is going on in the world we live in even though it was published 44 years ago and now out of print. It used to be available in kindle addition but it isn't anymore for some reason. Well worth seeking out.

Perfect Example of JW Dumbing Down
by thedepressedsoul injust take a look at this video.
i think arguing or debating scriptures is the most pointless thing ever.
everything at their meetings are so basic with no explanation.

OMG is this real? I can't believe they are starting off their presentation showing a child-like animated cartoon on a tablet now out door to door. No interpersonal communication to go into a conversation and then discussion. My things have really changed. It sure was different years ago when I went out with older ones who were in the organization for a long time. They knew their NWT and scriptures when talking to the "householder".

JW as a secret society - a weak link in the Information Age.
by slimboyfat inin the late 1990s there was magazine article that asked the question, are jws a secret society?
obviously they said no, because they claim to be transparent to outsiders and new members.
but they really are not transparent at all.

Kids continue to leave in droves - so what is the organization's grand plan? This
by sir82 injws have one of the worst, if not the worst, retention rates among their kids.
i've seen numbers from 65% to 88% who leave, never to return.. you'd think this would be a priority amongst the leadership, right?
where do tomorrow's leaders come from, if the vast majority of kids leave the organization?

Back when I was in the Borg in the mid 80s it wasn't that easy to get appointed an elder or MS. They waited a long time and observed your actions all during that time before they would recommend or appointment you to such a sacred position back then.

“We all feel inadequate very often. It’s only when it gets chronic that it is disturbing to one’s emotions and can get out of hand and make you pretty damn miserable.”
