  During my tenure there, yes. In March of '75 there was a number of guys expelled for gay activity. One of the guys came in the same day I did and was one of the first I met there. He set off a few red flags when I met. Knorr gave one of his infamous lectures during breakfast on that.

  While there husband of couple 1 ran off with wife of couple 2. That was quite shocker to many people due to who the couples were.

  And wife of a couple doing a single guy. I used to work with her brother. She was pretty hot looking and her husband was somewhat of a loser, imho, so I wasn't to surprised.

  And there were a few other instances there.

  ex-gf and I had sex almost every morning in shower...sex and coffee, the perfect way to start most mornings.

  I remember one woman, a one-niter, she stated after our shower adventure that was her first time of sex in the shower...and she had been married for twenty years. How sad I thought. She should have dumped that guy a lot sooner. From that one nite she was certainly making up for lost time though...woohoo...

  don't let any of the watchtower's propaganda deceive you.

  i encountered some private conversations among witnesses about the subject and it's ugly.

  yes, there is suffering as many of these victims try to live on charity and can't find jobs in the worst economy since the depression.. some of their private observations include shock that you need a college degree for nearly any job and that the watchtower society couldn't have picked a worse time to do this to them .. all the while these complaints are discussed, i try not to show that i am astounded by their bizarre "logic".

  Thank God I left when I did and got my degree(s). Maintaining that cynical attitude while at Bethel kept my perspective in check and on the edge. If I had stayed I suspect I would have been let go and so screwed trying to survive and adjust....

  Ever had some Witness storm out or turn off a Movie you were watching! Which one?

  i was watching steve martin "leap of faith" pg rated mind you with some witnesses.

  he plays a fake faith healer.

  their were a couple swear words, and the brothers asked me to switch it off.. same thing happened with christine applegate movie {pg 13} "don't tell mom the babysiters dead.

  While I was at Bethel a friend of mind wanted to see an "R" rated movie that was palying at the local theatre. He figured it would be safe to go on Monday night as that was the Bethel family Watchtower study. So he goes to the theatre, gets the ticket and is told, "sure is a lot of you guys here tonight". He was rather surprised as the place was packed with Bethelites.

  Is the Harvest Inn (Patterson NY) owned by a Witness?

  i was looking at reviews on www.tripadvisor.com and saw that the harvest inn near patterson is highly rated (though clearly a lower end mo-tel).

  one writer even commented at how nice it is to wake up to kingdom melodies in the morning there.. .

  comments lead me to believe that the place is jw owned and primarily caters to visitors of the farms and bus tours of same.. .

  When I was at Bethel I knew a guy with that same name from Georgia (worked in the pressroom)... must be his kid... I find that almost unbelievable recalling stories and escapades...

  Good Memories of Bethel: Fascati's Pizza!

  just want to celebrate one of my favorite eating haunts from my brooklyn days.... fascati's pizza on henry st.. here's a review online:.

  it was just a few blocks from bethel and a favorite of most everyone.

  I also remember Fascati's very well. You can see the store front via Google Earth. Actually the whole Brooklyn Heights area via Google Earth.

  When I was there Fascati's was called dining room x (I forget how many dining rooms were at Bethel during my time, so x was 1-plus Bethel dining rooms)

  I remember that Mexican restaurant on Montague. A number of us had a taco and beer party one night. Went to the restaurant and got 12 dozen taco shells. What a feast. Oh to be that young again to eat and drink mass quantities and not worry about weight....

  My experience with the Bethel Legal Dept. regarding a Ministerial Servant molesting a boy

  the experience that follows contains some details that some might find graphic.

  so be warned.. the body of elders received word that an unmarried ministerial servant, age 20, had been seen fondling a younger male bible student, age 14. the ministerial servant himself had been studying with the boy.

  the ministerial servant was a quiet, timid brother.

  Question: Why is head office so worried about if you're phoning from a cell phone or a land line phone?

  They think others may listen it. Cordless phones, the older analog, units could be monitored if you were close enough with a scanner. Under ideal conditions these units might transmit up to a mile. The newer digital phones are digital, which makes it far more difficult to eavesdrop. If your cordless phone has spread spectrum or frequency hopping technology it is virtually impossible for the conversation to be monitored. This applies to cell phone technology also.
