Has anyone ever noticed that JWs are considered a Christian Sect in nearly every mainstream publication and it appears they do nothing to dispell it. By they I mean the WTS.
You would think they would try to be there own thing and not associated with "apostate" religions. If they were really secure in their "Truth" they would have no problem standing alone. It is convienant for the to be considered by most of the world as part of those "good Christians" that help when there is trouble and spread the Good News.
Similar to the NGO standing I guess. Not as extreme but it is similar.

Does It Mean One Religion?
by Honesty inat ephesians 4:5 reference is made to 'one faith'.
does this mean the faith of one religion or denomination or does it mean all united in one faith, that is faith in jesus christ as lord and savior regardless of the denomination or religion?

I re-read the thread and I retract my last post. I was think religion not faith. Yes there is only one true FAITH.
All you need to know about it can be read in ONE book. All you need to do is pray for understanding and read away, talk to friends and accept what it tells you. Love Christ and Thank Him for giving his life so you could have a chance at yours.
It's funny how simple a thing it is to be a Christian and it is something the nearly all Christians can agree upon yet the WTS does not see the unity. I don't mean to say that being a Christian is easy, it isn't, I mean to say that the fundamentals of Christianity are present in nearly every denomination and the cannot change.
Everyone searching for an answer has access to it but most cannot see it. -

Flash, I think you are being a little harsh. While some church's are possibly not houses of God there are many of different denominations that are. They all serve a purpose in God's plans. I have seen and know people who have went to a church that was not very Godly and it inspired them to go to a more faith based church and be truly saved.
Forgive me if I am misreading your post. To me God works in ways that we cannot comprehend. Sometimes that involves religions that are not truly godly. They are a path to Christ IMHO. -

Do JWs believe in "signs"

my friend says she doesn't believe in signs, i am wondering if this is a jw mindset or her personal one.
it is something i have asked her and she said it was her beliefe but i wonder how much the wts had to do with it.

Do JW's believe in signs like, they are thinking of some one and a song comes on they like together so they call them, or they see something on tv that reminds them of a discussion they had earlier. Do they dismiss that or could it be God saying something? Is it even a JW thing?

Update to Shawn's Story

i am doing so now because i think people going through what i am need to know that there is hope and although sometimes it may seem impossible, it isn't.

She is going to be DF'd because people know that we had a relationship. She has attended holiday parties with me and her family. She has done a whole bunch of things that JWs cannot do. She is the one who told me she will be DF'd.
In a way I wish she wouldn't get DF'd because I know it is a horible thing but in a way I am glad she will because it will show how cruel and unChristian the Borg is. -

It has been a while since I last updated everyone. I am doing so now because I think people going through what I am need to know that there is hope and although sometimes it may seem impossible, it isn't.
I am going to assume that anyone reading this post is familiar with my story. If you are not than I recommend checking about a month and a half back on this board. It seems like I was everywhere then.
My friend and I are still friends. We went a couple of weeks where we didn't talk much at all. We went days without talking. Doesn't seem like much but for nearly a year we had not gone more than 12 hours without talking or a day with out seeing eachother. Things are much better now. I don't see her as much as I would like or for as long as I would like but we do see eachother. We hang out and try to do stuff. She is of course even more worried now than before about being seen with me by JWs. We manage though. Even if we have to go out of town for a few hours.
She hasn't been DF'd yet. I am not sure when the JC is. She still doesn't really talk to me about it. I know it is coming up though. That will be the true test of our friendship vs her dedication to the Borg. Through all that has happened I am hopeful that we will endure.
Her life the past month has been very rough. She struggles daily with choices she has made and where she is in life. She feels trapped and thinks it is her only option. I still pray daily that the seeds planted in her grow and I know that others are keeping her in their prayers too.
It is a hard thing to hear but it is too true, this is not a quick process. For many reasons this takes a long time. It has been 2 months for me and I know there is more to go. I have grown more than I ever thought possible and my Faith has grown too. God will make what is ment to happen happen in His time. No other's. Trust in him and know that as long as what you want is pure and true it is what he wants too. If what you want is not pure and true then perhaps you need to move on.
Love JWs. They deserve it. Read all you can about what they think and why they think what they do. Being educated is the one thing that you can use against the Borg. It is the one thing they cannot deny a non-JW. Find a JW, befriend them and witness to them. Truley witness to them and do it for no other reason than to spread the love of God around. JWs crave God, only they are being lied to about where he is.
God Bless you all and my eternal thanks to those who know who they are. It is good to be back. I only hope and pray that by the time I move on God's time will have come. -

In response to troubledteen, we can all hope that we find someone that is worth the "trouble" of loving. It is not an easy thing to do. I know. It is a struggle everyday. It makes you question what you believe and who you are. The key is two-fold, knowing that you are doing what you must for someone you love and knowing that God wants what you want for this person.
JWs are good people. They love God(for the most part). The only thing wrong is they are being misdirected. Their energy is being channeled the wrong way. Patience and knowing that they ultimatly want what any Christian wants are what needs to be remembered.
I am back CYP. Wiser by far and sadly still I have no answers. I do know that I learned a lot from this board and people I have met. You guys reigned me in when I was going the wrong way and pointed me where I needed to go to find answers. I am happy to say that my friend and I are still friends. I am going to post an update to our story now so that hopefully it can be an inspiration of sorts to people who are going through the same things. -

AFIN is a wise one. Listen closely. If there is love then do what your heart tells you. If there is no love than you owe it to both of you to move on and be friends only. Love and God are the only things that will make this even a possibility. -

Clay, I know where you are soming from. The people on this board are trying to help you. Some of them are jaded(you know who you are) and some are willing to be real with you and tell you how it is. IF you love this woman than be her friend. Do not try and convince her of the WTS's errors. It cannot be done unless she does it her self. Share what you believe in the most unobtrusive ways possible.
The single most important thing is to be her friend. Nothing more. I am in a way still where you are but I have stood by my belief in God and my desire above all else to be a friend to the one I love. She has come to me on multiple occasions when she had no one else to go to. Because of my friendship with her we went and saw Kingdom of Heaven together. It was an awesome chance to plant seeds in her. Try taking your friend to see that movie. Study on the Freemasons and Mormons. Study the WTS's history and make some comments without being critical. See how she reacts and if she is willing research it together.
No one person here can help you. No person can truly help you. All we can do is speak from experiance and offer advice. If this woman is the one then do not listen to the negative/jaded people here. They are trying to help in their own way. If she is not the one but you still want her as a friend then know that it could take years of being her friend before she realizes that you are there for her no matter what when others are not.
I could say more but, well.....I feel myself slipping back into how I was a few weeks ago and it is not good for me right now.
I will be updating my story shortly. The next week or so could spell big changes is what is going on. Keep the prayers up everyone. And Clay, you and your friend will be in my prayers tonight. I know where you are and not to be negative but it only gets worse before it gets better. Read all that you can. Online and Off. Knowledge and Truth are two things that unfortunatly JWs do not have.
