My day at the assembly, er, convention
by Pistoff inwell, i could not avoid going today; a close friend got dunked and i had to go.. i was not even in my seat when i was already writing down egregious mind control bs: the first of the day and here it is:.
(verbatim) "obedience in the congregation to the elders is the same as obedience to jehovah personally".
my day got started with that puker.. ok, sit down and take more notes; not enough caffeine to take it straight.

Help me handle this louser
by Cupcake inhi everyone just had another situation wanted to know your all opnion on how to deal with this one.
here goes..... i got a dozen roses with ballons the other day at work and it had type written on the card " to someone special ?
"that was on friday.... i called my x and ask others if they sent them to me and everyone said no......including my co workers then tuesday when i went to work, the florist brought me another dozen roses with a teddy bear and said he forgot to bring me the teddy bear on friday so he had a dozen roses a teddy bear and ballons again and the card read " thinking of you".... again didnt know who sent it... i talk to a co worker who is trying to make the moves on me and he said " do you want me to tell you the truth?

Why don't Jehovah's Witneses offer childrens activities?
by Dragonlady76 ini have always wondered why the jw's don't have a playroom/area or offer kids activities during the meetings.
i would imagine it's been brought to the societys attention at some point.
it just makes so much sense to offer a place where kids and go and play, where they can be read to, have them sing, color pages on bible related stories etc..... .

i remember one of the more "reasonable" families in the congo, and the mom got chewed out because the 5 year old was wearing suede "hush puppies" and not the black faux leather dress shoes that were the norm of the kiddie footwear in dubbie land. apparently they resembled tennis shoes a little too much for mr. high and mighty elder's tastes. . .

let's also not forget that the children need to be dressed to the nines on all occassions to be as uncomfortable as possible. what a difference at my boyfriend's children's church. they allow kids to wear <insert audible gasp> SHORTS and SNEAKERS and JEANS!!!
the women are dressed in culottes or comfortable khakis; you see a few skirts here and there but no JW stepford wife attire. . .
