that's really horrible. i know here in rottenchester ny, we have more shootings per capita than NYC! it sounds like her kids didn't take to the JW life, however. (notes: one child was a marine corp vet)

How many of you had assembly parts?
by rebel8 ini was just remembering i had a part in an assembly part once.
i was a fresh new pioneer (who never, ever made my time, lol) just out of high school.
they gave me a brief part to say i was glad i didn't go to college and how i turned down a good job to pioneer.

definitely the mantra was NO COLLEGE, NO COLLEGE. actually, many even quit HIGH SCHOOL so they could go pioneering. i was on the assembly in rochester ny in 1977, just before i got married to the first JW loser

Brutality of the bird kingdom - cest la vie.
by Crumpet ini was busy typing away here in my conservatory when my next door neighbours leaned over the fence calling my name.
they asked if i could see a budgie in my garden, so i tiptoed barefoot up the lawn and there pecking away at the grass and fallen apples was a pudgey budgie grey and white.
i saw the same one a month ago fly over our garden which was odd.

Yet another "My Story"
by mapleaf18 inmy story: and i apologize in advance for the long post.. i was born to special pio parents and i attended my first meeting when i was 6 days old, which was unusual in the 50s and 60s because babies were usually quarantined for the first month or so.
my mother had a poor childhood and was often placed with uncaring relatives which served as foster homes.
my father was raised in a single parent home by his divorced mother who was looking for answers.

this site just reaffirmed the fact that the only reason i was a jw for so long is because of my parent's indoctrination. i always felt alienated from my parents and now i know why. i was being a good little girl for so long, i lost site of myself.
knowing that others have experienced the same things and have felt the way i have made all the difference in the world

disfellowshipped for gluttony?

just wondering.. has anyone ever heard of a person being disfellowshipped for the terrible sin of gluttony?
isn't it ranked right up there with drunkeness, adultery, murder, etc.?.

i think gluttony and drunkeness is a socially acceptable vice in the elder and GB arrangement. that is how they drown their miserableness and literally force feed down their emotions.
