do you know how to cook, even just a few simple recipes, or do you hate the idea of home cooking and prefer to always rely on restaurants and take aways, or just prepare easy snacks like sandwiches and melted cheese on toast?

we eat out about once a week usually for boyfriend's kids sake; other than that it's me cooking for 2, although boyfriend can cook very well himself.
a lot of people here have posted their photo's, but i think the majority haven't... i sometimes wonder when reading posts on here, what person making those posts must look like, not that i want to see their photo, i just find it interesting... i recently got to see a photo of someone i have talked to on here since i first joined, and i had to say the person looked an awful lot like i had imagined, so i wondered if anyone else wonders about things like this?
is there a particular poster you have a mental image of?
care to share it and see if the person really looks like what you think they look like?

definitely mentally and more than likely physically.. i have read on a few posts and freeminds about an increase of mental illness amoungst jws of between 2 and 40 % and it seems understandable considering the amount of stress being in the borg puts on people.. but what about physically?.
what are your experiences since leaving the borg?.

EXACTLY! i never suffered because i took everything with a "grain of salt." my only problem is that i was overweight, but quickly shed the pounds after fading from the borg.
so many things come to mind to show how silly jws sound in reality.
for example, being allowed to pass the microphones is a big deal, especially to a young brother.
or being given the "privilege" of cutting the grass or working on a "quick-build" is really something special to a jw.
on chaperones,
we had a couple in their late forties/early fifties that were "dating" and intended to get hitched. it was hysterical to see that they arranged for a chaperone (usually someone in their 20s) every time they were together
and then one recently separated brother sat down next to me in the front row *because it was standing room only with no other seats available* at the time i too was separated from my first dubby hubby. the elders made a HUGE STINK over it and chastised him to death!
hi all, i've been gone for a little while, but i'm back and i wanted to get some opinions.
back in april i told you guys that i sent out my da letter to the congregation, our family, and some of our witness friends.
well, we got a letter in response from two elders by certified mail.
that's exactly why my DA letter was approx 2 sentences long. no need to open a weasle hole for them to try and crawl into. and it's none of their biz why one DAs themselves anyway. any other religion/church would just accept a single letter stating that "i no longer wish to be a member." end of story
maybe i would write back just stating simply that "we agree to disagree" and have a nice day.
i was listening to zep's dazed and confused today and the rocking middle section of that song never ceases to amaze me - john bonham was from a different planet, was completely insane, or both.

I think the guy who drums for System of a Down is really good. He puts in a lot of subtle nuances and changes up the rythym where you'd least expect it. ie. toxicity
i'm talking over 55 years of age that know the gb are frauds, but because they have no retirement benifits worth anything feel forced to hold on to this position.

It was sickening because that is their MAIN focus ALWAYS! Like they are some sort of meter keeping track of everyone's field service and meeting attendance!
at the portland maine district convention that was held this past weekend, brother buck from brooklyn bethel gave the last talk on sunday.
in this talk he mentioned the "millions of people that have left" in the recent past.
he also mentioned them in the concluding prayer.

OMG! I can't begin to tell you how totally familiar your experience is. I got married in '78 for the first time and I felt EXACTLY the way you did. Just turned 18 yr old bride and i wanted out but it was the "right thing to do." all the invitations, etc. had been sent out and my gut feeling was screaming NO NO NO. Exact same thing happened to me except for the affair and the suicide attempt.
My father, being a super-elder didn't exactly agree with me getting married at all because he was one of the original latch key kids (his mom was divorced) he even took away the key to the apartment; letting me know that there was no return. I put up with all sorts of abuse from jdubby hubby! physical, mental, emotional; he REFUSED to hold down a regular job either and I did all of the financial support. . .
