i thought it would be useful if we discussed ways we have tried to budget better and also save, and even be greener, if that is something you care about.

i have noticed substantial differences in my saving and budgeting and i am hoping maybe we can learn from each other.. food.

i did a sum of all the money i was spending going out a few days a week for lunch, and i just realized how much i could save by making my lunch and buying soups on sale for lunch for the week.

Actually we're planning a road trip to New Mexico in six weeks with a stop at the Grand Canyon! I figure we could have done it on half the gas budget one year ago, but otherwise, we've waited nearly a life time to see the southwest. Not about to hunker down yet. Still have the motorcyle if things get beyond $5. a gallon. Planting the garden in two weeks though to cut down on the grocery bill..... carmel

members of the religious group, jehovah's witnesses, have a bond of trust with the men who run the organization.. the source of authority for that bond of trust is explained to be superior to any other and all other religious groups.. what is the basis given for the superiority of the governing body's teachings and interpretations of god's will?.

Anyone Cash in their Investments?

i was just wondering, with the collapse of some of the big investment groups, how many or if anyone has cashed in their 401k's or other investments?

anyone sticking to cash only right now in the bank?

me and my mother aren't on very good terms right now.

since she's the one who invited me to the memorial most years, i thought that i wouldn't get an invite.

on saturday afternoon while i was getting ready to go out, there was a knock at my back door.

Three years ago I was working in the yard of a rental my wife and I own when two adult male dubs and a young (maybe 10) boy came peddling invites to the memorial. I couldn't help but get off on them about harboring peodiphiles and asking if the young man is "safe" going around with them... I think I wrote a thread here about it at the time. Well now I live in one of the apartments of the same dublex and wonder if I will see the dubbies coming around. They never did at our previous home. I notice they don't want to come inside just hand out the printed invite and move on.. carmel, wondering how to corner the next ones........

Which is More Important: Doctrinal Correctness or Unity?

i have begun running through some hypothetical conversations in my mind.

when i used to go there was a spoecial campain because it was so close , what happens now is it still any minute now or is there talk along the lines of that it may not happen for quite sometime yet ?

has anyone ever said at a talk that it may not happen in our lifetime ?

has anyone who is still in ever heard anyone question it coming very soon, considering the golden oldies must of being saying that all of their lives

alternative medicine/healing...tried any? is it nuts?

i have gone to chiropractors for years...and some are pathetic quacks....some really help me.

i had severe tendonitis in my elbow and tried reg.

doctors for six months...was helped more in one visit to a acupuncturist!

I've been to chiropracters, physical therapists, acupunturists and massage theapists. I've had success with all except the needle lady. My most recent experiance was with extreme low back pain with sciatica. Medical doctor drugged me with pain reliever, muscle relaxant and one other powerful drug. No benefit, so after four weeks I went to the chiropracter. She gave me a treatment then told me to ice it every hour. No meds, but immediate relief of much of the pain. Icing was combined with electrical empulses and within a week I was 90%. Ice is one of my favorite treatments for lots of pain. Utilitarian. If it works, do it. carmel

Is True Religion Possible?

considering any religious presumption to be that we have fallen from perfection, is it realistic to expect an imperfect memeber of our speceis to fare any better than a perfect one who failed initially?.

considering the often added feature of multiple deceptions and the rampant claim of an evil superpower who tricks what we see as truth in an angel of light format, can it seriously be expected that we have the mental wherewithall to accurately decipher truth from lies and also cope with all our biological urges often branded evil?.

or is the truth that our biology is perfectly natural and our preoccupation with 'holy' in fact even dirties natural and beautiful gifts?
