have anyone of you read, the absolutly jaw dropping paragraph in this article about a women who was hit by her husband?

its in page 25 of the 2/15/12 wt study edition (i read the dumbed down version).. .

if there was any question, that the watchtowers stance is for wives to simply take it when their husbands abuse them, this makes it crystal clear.. who the hell is scanning these things before they go to print?

What really galls is the statement that " Steve" became a witness after 17 years of abusing his wife. What a marriage that must be. I remember reading an article in the 70's that told women they should

stay with their violent husbands because leaving the situation would expose them to "temptations" of a sexual nature. I couldn't beleive my eyes! Just showed what the so called brothers thought of women...

just mindless chattels who were supposed to crawl into bed all cut up and bruised, mentally and spiritually violated and engage in enthusiastic bonking with their braindead knuckle-dragging spouses! And

one day this psycho will become a brother!!!! Yay!

What a load of self-serving BS!!!!

What kind of woman accepts 17 years of abuse and comes out of it mentally and spiritually healthy? These articles show what the Society really thinks of women. "Bout time JW women woke up!

The JW religion is an "old boys club". Most religions are. Submission of women has been a mandate of nearly all religions since the dawn time. The WTBTS has made this caveman edict a major sacrament featuring it in countless

articles, conventions and platform talks. Mysogeny is a favoutite pastime of the cult. When a sister is constantly dumbed down into a cowering servant stance it's easy for their husbands to get away with any outrage. Studies of

abusive men show that this behavior does NOT change with conversion to religion. They have a screw loose, some are pyschotics who need to be locked up.

Men who beat, browbeat and denigrate their wives do so with impunity in the JW cult. I know because I was one of those women. Going to the elders was a major eye opener for me. And, in a bizzare turnabout, I later learned that

the elder I spoke with was himself fond of bashing his wife around. So fond in fact that his wife was well known to the hospital I worked at! How her many trips to the ER failed to prompt a major red flag in my former congregation

was a mystery to me. And this was the man I turned to in desperation for help!

Just shows what cretins the Society promotes to positions of power

we've already got some "most hated" threads on here, like "most hated bible verse" or "most hated meeting", don't know if there's another thread on metaphors/analogies.

one of the most used analogies used is the "jehovah's like a loving father holding your hand and leading you, you can trust him like a little child trusts his father".

i don't know how often i heard that one.

today my mother, a devoted jw of 40+ years, expalined to me that studying the watchtower publications "taught her" how to study!

she went on to describe how the weekly watchtower study taught her how to truly study, by underlining the most important part of the paragraph.

funny, i do not recall that as the primary method of study for the rest of the world - most of the textbooks i have read did not have a numbered set of questions at the end of each paragraph.

It used to irk me no end that the "studies" at all the meetings were set up so that all a person had to do was regurgitate word for word what was written down in front of you. All we learned were slogans and how to repeat them back as if the predigested pap in front of you was the superior information.

Saw a Canada filmboard movie once about Eskimos that was a picture perfect depiction in real life how witlesses are given their "food".....an Inuit mother out on an icefloe somewhere in the godforsaken Arctic took a bite of seal meat, chewed it up and transferred it right into her baby's mouth.
For adults to be "spoonfed" what they are supposed to believe and in turn regurgitate it back to others is just plain icky.

Wonderful account!! Thank you for posting that. I once read an article by a hypnotist (sorry, don't recall which one ) who, in answer to a question, said that intelligent people were the easiest to hypnotise. I wonder if this observation could also apply in some way to susecptibility in religion. Seems to me that the JW religion uses some of the same methods as hypnotists to lull, cajole and take control of a person's inmost self, rendering them pliable and vulnerable to any suggestion.
Most of us are aware of the strange phenomenom of post-hypnotic suggestion where a whole room full of people will bark on command, or stand on their heads in response to thoughts planted in their minds while in a sleep like state. Many years out of the cult, I was at a get-together with witness people and saw for myself evidence of the similarity when almost everyone of them burst into slogans and re-iterations at the mere mention of certain words. It was startling. I even tried to get them going by mentioning certain trigger words like "education", "old system of things" etc and then stood back and watched the glaze come over them and their mouths moving word for word right out of the WT publications. It was amusing in a sad sort of way and eerie at the same time.
Once we are out the whole disturbing picture comes into focus and we wonder how could they have fooled us for so long. I've read plenty of outbursts on this forum from people who can't believe they once followed that organization without question. My sixteen lost years weigh heavily on me too.
Looking back, however, most of us can pinpoint the event that propelled us out whether it started as a tiny little doubt, or a nagging little voice at the edge of the cult induced sleep....much like your compelling illustration....and we finally got it.

People who never cry....

My experience when my mom died might shed some light on why some people don't cry when faced with the loss of a loved one.. For the first time in my life I came face to face with the reality of human mortality when I sat with my mom as she died. This woman came from Poland, having escaped the Reds in Moscow as they killed off everyone associated with the Tsar,and came to Canada alone in 1930. She turned 15 on the boat just before disembarking at Halifax, Nova Scotia.She never saw her family again.
Her life with my father was a tragedy of abuse and neglect. She said to me, a few months before she had the stroke that ended her sufferings "I haven't even lived and now it's time to die." She was 77 years old.
As I sat by her bed, holding her hand,giving her nursing care and talking to her I felt the enormity of those words sink into my deepest being. She was beyond speech,and the stroke had affected her in such a way that although she understood us, she could only speak Russian, her language of birth. Finally she slipped into a coma, thirty days later she was gone.
I then experienced for the first time in my life the grief beyond tears. I never knew there could be misery so great, anguish so terrible that one is UNABLE to cry. It was without a word of exageration the most painful thing I have ever gone through. I cried without the release of tears, it was more like a convulsion that wouldn't cease. The physical and emotional pain combined waas unbearable. When the tears came it was about a month later and then I couldn't stop. This went on for weeks. I now know why people can die from grief.

for me, it'd be: hawaii..........no more filthy rotten lousy snow in april and may......or any other time of the year for that matter..............hell, i'd be willing to live on the beach if i could..........

Tetra...my youngest daughter lives in Queen Charlotte City. She went there to do a summer locum for a vacationing dental hygenist friend of hers AND NEVER CAME BACK! She says it's heaven. She caught a 36 pound salmon all by herself from a boat, went crabbing and brought home 8 large ones, she goes out hunting for mushrooms (the edible kind) and brought home bags of morels, she's seen the most awsome scenery and been to the hot springs on ancestral Haida land. She once told me she could not see herself moving from Vancouver...ever...because she was a "city" person and that's that. Now she's in love with this unique place.
I would go and live in Italy. ALmost anywhere in Italy. Near Rome, the Almalfi coast, Tuscany. Most sensuous place on the planet IMO.
