So if according to the WT something having a pagan origin or beginning makes it forever bad..it can not become something good...why do they baptize? Pagan baptism predates the baptism preached by John the Baptist. It seems to me that John the Baptist- Jesus forerunner was not too concerned with origin.

by reniaa ini thought long and hard before making this thread, that many will not agree with it but i think there needs to be balance and people to realise there are alternate viewpoints out there on many of these subjects, the ones that are most spoke about on this forum.
i was recently sent a full message containing mary's book and these links give the rebuttal to many of her points.
those that are still open-minded enough feel free to look over them even if in the end you still don't agree at least you have heard both the defence as well as the attack as they are on the internet.

Thanks doom...The JW will call the cross a pagan symbol...and yes it was! And the Romans who WERE PAGAN put Jesus to death with their preferred method of execution. Regarding its use today- Jesus blood cleansed something that was formerly pagan. We don;t use it as an object of worship, we do not pray to it or bow down to it. We use it as a reminder of what Jesus did.

would this be a minor error:
Life Everlasting- In Freedom of the Sons Of God, page 26:
In order for the Lord Jesus Christ to be "Lord even of the sabbath day," his thousand-year reign would have to be the seventh in a series of thousand-year periods or milleniums, (Matthew 12:8, AV) Thus it would e a sabbatic reign.
This was written regarding the end of 6,000 years of man's existance coming in the year 1975.
Minor error? No big deal? They pin their words and put the blame on Jesus if they are wrong.

NO and I've talked this from one end of a topic with laialeo to another so nothing new for me either.
Reniaa, I highly doubt you held an intelligent conversation with Laialeo on the cross. She is too scholarly and sharp for your pasted apologist quotes.

Mary first pointed out that the object he died on is irrelevant- he died. That is the key point. Then she answers the Wts dogmatic claim that He did not die on a cross.
The word 'stauros' in its simplest form means upright pole...can also mean other instruments of execution such as the cross. Certain Bible verses indicate that it was a cross..
John 20:25 So the other disciples kept telling him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he told them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands, put my finger into them, and put my hand into his side, I will never believe!"
Mat 27:37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
over his head. If on a straight pole his hands would have been over his head and the sign over his hands.

jesus denies being God! scriptural discussion.
by reniaa ini thought after recently reading the bible i would put up for disussion some recent scriptures up which for me show that jesus never viewed himself as god and anyone listening would also see it this way too.. first mark 10 :17-20.
17as jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him.
"good teacher," he asked, "what must i do to inherit eternal life?

Well, glad you got to see some of it at least. LOL That WT-ingrained fear won't allow you to read it huh? Very sad.

Can you successfully debate with a Jehovah's Witness?
by digderidoo inthe answer is no way if they are very diehard jws.

If their trust in the WT is there and they do not have the courage to face their doubts (which all JWs have regardless of what appears to the eye) then regardless of what proof is presented it will go in one ear and out the other.

actually...the more I think about Reniaas comment on the thread regarding OOTB voting:
you sent me Mary's book by message despite my telling you I had no interest in Mary's book after finding her particularily biased in pasts threads of mine that she has remarked on, showing a tendency to paint me with the same brush as wt despite knowing nothing about me simply because I defend the JW's because of your unsolicited information you inspired me to put a watchtower defence thread showing the opposite side to many of the points Mary raises.
Does this mean you did read mary's book Reniaa? Otherwise how would you know the opposite side to Mary's points? Mary took much time to put this together and do her research...you took a few mins to copy paste links. But your statement that I inpsired you to do this is BS. Just about every thread you have started here has been to defend the indefensible WT.
