Do you like this guy (other than the fact that he's a bit of a moocher)? Cuz if you don't, giving him a ride at all is going to be torture on a daily basis. If he's okay and it won't give you an ulcer having to deal with him, then he either meets you at one of those stops you mentioned or he can take a hike. He should also be responsible for paying you gas money. Its a take it or leave it situation. You should not have to get up extra early so that this person doesn't have to. You should not have to go out of your way. You should not have to foot the bill for this guy's transportation to work. Don't let him take advantage.

Annual Meeting Quote
by XBEHERE ina friend of mine said an elder in his congregation who attended gave a part on the service meeting lastnight about the upcoming campaign and one of the things he said was during one of the gb talks at the annual meeting i think he said it was morris stated that "the governing body is certain that jehovah's day is getting near" anyone go to that meeting or also heard this?
can they verify?
his reasoning for his part was no wonder the year text is zepheniah 1:14 and we are presenting this tract "false religion's end is at hand" .

Aah, well if they're certain...
Its a bit like the 1914 thing isn't it? One of these years something will happen (a war, a larger energy crisis, a meteor hitting the earth) and, especially since they aren't year-specific any more, they will claim credit for being omniscient....even if it isn't exactly the end of the world.

Fading: A Little Craziness Helps
by metatron inas you may know, i am a zealous advocate of using depression as a means of fading out of the organization.. let me add that a hint of craziness or mental illness can work wonders, too.
instead of shunning you, your witness.
relatives and "friends" may make quite an allowance for you, if you just keep your mouth shut about deep apostasy.. they may just feel sorry for you and leave you alone- at least, that's largely my experience.. remember that movie that said "love means never having to say you're sorry"?

I know it was easier for me than many other people here because I was the lone JW in my family at the time I started to fade. There had also been a death in my immediate family a few years before and so I think I was cut a lot of slack...no one wanted to push. I also think I'd been on the fringes of the congregation so long that I truly wasn't missed very much.
Seems to me that most of the time the depression card isn't a ruse. Being a witness is depressing, especially when you don't want to be one any more. Its merely a matter of not sucking it up and letting people know that you feel like shit all the time instead of hiding it behind a big, fake, JW-martyr smile.

Did u want to leave the org bcause u were doing something immoral?
by Will2Power in..and then sought to justify your leaving the organisation/religion by researching websites like this (to salve your conscience, justify continuing in your pleasurable but unscriptural lifestyle), or did you sincerely leave purely because you discovered certain false teachings, scandals, etc, while still living a moral, christian lifestyle?
be honest now, i mean really honest.
(this is not meant to offend anyone but viewed like a survey).

Hmmm, yes, that must be it. I was reading sci fi and murder mystery novels and going to R-rated movies. lol Nah, I'm pretty boring in the immorality department, only grade B sinning here. The real reason? Being a Jdub simply sucked the joy out of everything everyday in every way.

I QUIT !!!
by Frannie Banannie indid any of you do something really naughty and forbidden after you left the wts?
i waited almost 6 months, then realized i could smoke because there wasn't anyone to tell me what i can and can't do, so if i wanted to, i could smoke......so i did.
it wasn't long until i began to regret doing that.

Good for you, Frannie! I know you can do it. Seems like you are really ready.
Old Flambé makes a good point about noticing your triggers and trying to either avoid them or be prepared for them. I know that my father (who quit smoking at the age of 71) had the most trouble when on the phone or when talking to people in groups. He always carried lifesavers so he could pop one in his mouth when the urge got strong. Not sure how good that was for his teeth but you do what you have to do. He also used the patch to help him overcome the nicotine cravings.

The JW phrase I most despise is...
by exwitless in"need greaters" ugh!!
i hate that phrase and i always have.
we knew a jw couple who applied every year to bethel and giliad until the age cut-off (age 35 or 40?).

jgnat's husband demanded: "submit to me woman"
I dunno, jgnat, that could be kind of sexy under the right circumstances.
My most despised phrase is: Spiritual Food ...actually anything that was compared to food or baby food or mother's milk or well oiled crap with wine or dinner tables or banquets...but none of it had anything to do with real food or enjoying oneself it was all just a hideous metaphor that was so over done that I wanted to spiritually barf.
