Today, the Watchtower teaches that the governing body is the faithful slave. At one time (maybe in the 1970s, 80s or 90s) the Watchtower actually published a comment about the notion that the faithful slave was comprised of prominent members of the Society (Bethel et al) and then it rejected the idea. I've read this paragraph myself so I know it's there in either a Watchtower or Awake! journal. But I can't find it now. Can someone help find this reference?Thank you,

McALESTER, Okla. — Despite Fat Mary’s success as a gay-friendly drag-show venue, being gay in southeastern Oklahoma isn’t easy, especially if your name isn’t Paul Prichard, one of Fat Mary’s co-owners. And especially if your church and family are against you.
Although Prichard will tell you he has been subjected to nasty comments by those in the community unhappy with a gay bar existing in McAlester, he agrees his experience doesn’t match the ordeal that local commercial-property manager and gay-rights advocate Debbie McDaniel experienced growing up lesbian in southeastern Oklahoma under the watchful eye of the Jehovah’s Witness church.
‘Disfellowshipped’ in the wake of abuse
As a child, McDaniel was sexually abused by a Jehovah’s Witness elder in a McAlester church. Some 30 years later, when she was telling McAlester police about church and family members harassing her and her 15-year-old daughter, Marley, who announced she too was lesbian, McDaniel mentioned to police that the same church had ignored her molestation as a child.
“The detective taking notes said, ‘Molested? What? I think we’re going to have to get out some more paper,’” McDaniel said.
The police investigation led to the Pittsburg County district attorney filing felony lewd molestation charges against a 76-year-old McAlester man. Other victims had come forward. The man was also charged with molesting another then-pre-teen girl and a 5-year-old boy. But the district court judge dismissed all charges because nearly 30 years had passed.

Prince’s death came less than a week after his plane made an emergency stop in Moline, Illinois, for medical treatment as he was returning from an Atlanta concert. The Associated Press and other media reported, based on anonymous sources, that Prince was found unconscious on the plane, and first responders gave him a shot of Narcan, an antidote used in suspected opioid overdoses. The Jehovah's Witnesses' principal body in Russia is under threat of dissolution as an "extremist" organisation after the deadline in an official warning from the General Prosecutor's Office expired on 10 May, Forum 18 notes. If prosecutors decide to pursue liquidation, thousands of local Jehovah's Witness congregations across Russia could also face prohibition of their activities and individuals could be vulnerable to criminal charges for expressing their beliefs.
If dissolution of the Administrative Centre is pursued, this would be the first instance of a registered, centralised religious organisation with active subdivisions being liquidated for "extremism", Forum 18 notes.
Lawyers have until 10 June to challenge the warning in court, the Administrative Centre told Forum 18 from St Petersburg. Lawyers for the Administrative Centre are planning to lodge a challenge at Tver District Court in Moscow, and told Forum 18 they still hope that the matter will be resolved in their favour. Exclusive: Extent of child sexual abuse in England and Wales begins to become clear as inquiry passes on 100 cases a month.
The scale of child sexual abuse in England and Wales is being exposed by evidence from thousands of victims, with cases being passed to police at a rate of 100 a month by the public inquiry set up following the Jimmy Savile scandal.
Simon Bailey, head of the national coordinating unit Operation Hydrant, said his team was expecting to be given 30,000 reports of new child sexual offences by the end of the Goddard inquiry, and predicted the rate of referrals of allegations of abuse would increase.
Reports of child abuse to forces across the country are continuing to rise, said Bailey, who is the chief constable of Norfolk. He calculated that the continuing increase would mean that by 2020 police across the country would be investigating 200,000 cases of child sexual abuse.
Bailey added: “It is fair to say I am surprised by the extent of abuse being exposed, it is shocking. In trying to get a message across to the public about the scale of this, it is important to remember that behind each of these figures there is a victim.
“We are seeing a significant rise in the number of referrals each month from the Goddard inquiry, and these allegations relate to abuse in a range of institutions from the church, to schools, the scouts and hospitals.” READ MORE

The district court for Greifswald (northeaster Germany) has condemned a man for the sexual abuse of a child to one year and two months probation and a fine of 900 euros. Thus, the Court largely followed the request of the prosecutors. The defendant had given a fully comprehensive confession and so spared the victim from having to testify in court, according to Judge Wittke. He show recognizable remorse and did not commit any further offenses since 2005.
The Greifswalder confessed to having carried out sex acts in 2005 against eleven boys in two cases. The boys had come to think of him as a "fatherly friend" that "was all too close," the accused said. He regrets these acts and has claimed to have apologized to the family.
Other allegations
A then 14-year-old boy, kept money for satisfying him orally. The defendant was acquitted of this charge, since it alone remained as an issue at trial and at the time of the act was not criminal.
The Baltic newspaper had earlier reported that the man was said to have abused the boy during "Jehovah religious ceremonies in Greifswald Kingdom Hall.” The defense attorney and judge Daniel Wittke expressed surprise at this. "I did not see that in the file," said Wittke.
The 53-year-old testified that he had begun long-term therapy after the incidents. He was abused as a child by his own father and his brother. He discussed staying away from children with a therapist. He did not feel attracted any more to children.
Witnesses responded late
The defendant was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. About a year after the abuses he had turned to the "elders" and confessed to the deeds. They did not react until years later and expelling him from their community in 2012.

Greifswald. Abuse trial before the Greifswald District Court: It’s alleged that a now 53 year old man from the Hanseatic city in 2005 during religious ceremonies at the Greifswald Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses molested two children, both boys. One of the boys at the material time was twelve, and abused twice by the defendant. The other boy in 2005 was over 14 years old but not yet of age. The spokesman for the prosecutor of Stralsund, Martin Cloppenburg, confirmed the charges. The trial starts Tuesday. Quoted is a day of the trial.
According to the central office for information besides this one case there are far more cases of abuse among Jehovah's Witnesses. It has been stated that there have been at least 20 assaults. However, up until beginning with the two young men, who are now in their early and middle 20’s none of the victims have yet spoken up or given evidence.
A person knowledgeable of Jehovah's Witnesses in regard to the intimidation of victims or potential witnesses may be testifying in court. "Child abuse must be severely punished, because is in our Bible that we are to protect our children and to take care of them," said members of the religious community in contrast to the office of information.
