I have the same link that Splash has posted for the hearings. I'm looking at a blank screen now which looks as if it will be active soon.

If all goes well, I will be watching the hearing beginning at 7 PM Central Time this evening (Sunday, July 26th) here in the US in the state of Tennessee.
To watch the entire hearing will be difficult for many who are interested due to the time, so we will be recording the entire hearing each day, and my webmaster will be posting all of it in segments each day as he records, on my website, Watchtower Documents. (watchtowerdocuments.org)
We might have additional information later on this evening so if you have time, watch this subject thread.

According to the article,"Why President Eisenhower Hid His Jehovah's Witness Upbringing," found at the link below, Dwight's father, David, discontinued his association with the Bible Students in 1915, but he didn't interfere with his wife's association.
For those who are interested, there's an abundance of fascinating material about the Eisenhower's religious background in the article.

It sounds to me like he was a JW before he became a physician. "Kalauawa, who became a JW 31 years ago, said he had to overcome a major conflict between his religious and professional beliefs, because JWs are opposed to blood transfusions. During his residency [medical training] he resolved the dilemma by having other doctors order transfusions. 'I can't impose my religious beliefs on my patient; I have to honor their wishes ... That way I wasn't violating my conscience.'"
In my opinion, it apparently didn't violate Kalauawa's conscience to go to medical school at the same time his religion disapproved of higher education. In fact, a man couldn't hold an appointed position in a congregation if he was in university because of setting a bad example for others, especially the youth.

Good catch. When this article was sent to us by, of all people, a JW, the information sure was a surprise. Without looking in the Comments section, we decided in the interests of truth, the best thing to do was post it on JWN and see what fallout would be. Well, as has been the case in the past, JWN posters came through again and another misconception was cleared up and I didn't have to do a lick of research to right the wrong information. Thanks everyone involved.

"It's hard to grow up with such a foundational system and just let it go. I deeply believe in many Christian values: love people; do the right thing; know that there's good in everyone, that God's looking out for all of us," the former president said.

im going by memory, so not an exact quote...i believe this was around 2002, at the crownsville assembly hall (now sold from what i understand)..
he said basically: some people watch an hour show and give up the faith that theyve had for decades..
the impact of this show was like a canon being shot into a swimming pool.
Thanks John Aquila for the validation (relating the experience of the two young JW girls) of my opinion.

I just posted the following on another thread:
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/389730001/sam-herds-comment-on-2001-dateline-expose
IN MY OPINION:
Londo111, we had to start somewhere and Dateline was the beginning. Of course many did not leave the org. because of Dateline, but thousands did. A prominent staff member in the Service Department told my son (who had been a Bethelite for over 16 years), a week after Dateline aired that thousands left the organization because of what they heard on Dateline and will die at Armageddon because of me. Maybe you didn't exit the religion then, but you eventually did and that's what's important. For many, the info on Dateline was enough, but for others, it was something else that woke them up.
Men and women, media people, have our gratitude because they listened carefully to the victims of child abuse, checked the facts, and brought it to the attention of the public in many radio, TV programs and print articles with more to come.
The latest BBC radio program will have a world-wide impact upon the JW organization with more and more JWs fleeing from a religion that has lied itself into a corner without a way to escape with its reputation intact. As the message gets out to more and more people about JW leaders hiding criminals such as JW pedophiles among honest devotees, what an embarrassment or worse it will be for those who continue loyal, to call themselves JWs.
If I was still a JW and standing next to one of those carts, it would be torture knowing that I must look to passerby's as loco in the head for being a JW. In our world today it does matter to people - even JWs - what others think of them, that's why JWs work so hard to put on a good front - cars clean, dress well, speak well - so the world will listen to them. Mark my words, JWs (except the crazies) in this modern world will exit this shameful religion because of their shame coming from being a part of it.
