He won't answer any questions unless they are about faith/his faith? Great! Now all we need is a reporter to ask him about 1914/1919, 1935, 144,000, and so on. Maybe he can clear some of that up for us. I would actually watch that interview if he was allowed to do it without an elder there. Odd his comment about Jesus rather than jehovah, it seems to me they give lip service about Jesus but when you try to discuss they will always go back to some OT story.

Most people I talk to still don't know squat about the wt. And most have a story for me about a 'big jehovah', and still I don't correct them. I still get a little chuckle about them calling them a big god. They of course don't realize it, they just think of them a denomination at best, most think of it as a cult of some sort. Jw's cannot see that their failure to be able to even explain their main doctrine of 1914/1919 makes them look like idiots. "you mean you can't explain this very important date yet you believe it", 'yes the fds says.....' Well why are they the fds? Look at all the evidence! What evidence? The fds says..." Totally idiotic.

Do you think she has alzhiemers? or some other aging dementia? Has she seen a doctor? Has her handwriting changed? Maybe she had a mini stroke or something.

A question for you from a non jw- are you saying that most jw's believe that many of the annointed suffer some sort of mental illness? Is this a widespread belief?

so a friend told me something recently that just blew my mind.

she was interrogated by some elders regarding her choice of underwear.

she was being questionned regarding her conduct with a man and apparently her choice of undergarments reflected the level of intent in her actions.

I've heard of stories like this, but my jw just says things like, 'maybe that happened long time ago'. Ever notice any wrong doing always was long ago before they 'knew better'? On another board there was a discussion by a number of women who were relating to have to tape down nipples before meetings because they could still be seen through a bra and sweater. What the heck? Aren't the 'brothers' supposed to be looking at their Bibles or something?! How an elder even confronts a woman about something like that is beyond me! If some guy started a discussion about my body parts I would probably think HE was the pervert and clock him or something. Or I would speak quite loudly about why HE has a problem with MY nipples and why was he looking in the first place! Don't these people ever wonder about that? Why are these guys looking and getting 'stumbled'? Maybe they have a problem?

can someone explain fully the restrictions that a jw must accept when dating or trying to date a person not of the same faith - protestant.

Leaving is not as simple as it sounds. I suggest reading old threads here and elsewhere. Would she be willing to give up her sisters for you? That may sound melodramatic to you at the moment, but that's how it is, really. I too am married to a recently baptized jw and grew up protestant. I understand how nuts this all sounds. How much baggage will she be carrying into the relationship caused by being jw? Are you ready to deal with that? Do you know what the 144,000 means to her? Paradise earth? Jesus was not the savior at birth? The book of Daniel and how it relates to jw's? (don't ask me I still don't get it) Who is the fds? My point is there is so much information, that to most protestants these are not 'salvation issues' but have tremendous meaning to jw's it takes so much work just to figure out where they are coming from. And once you start to study any of it you realize it's all just bs. They have no Biblical foundation. Just made up by a bunch of men in Brooklyn.

Turbulent times hard to deal with.

i have to go to the district assembly or convention or whatever its called this weekend.

it's just crippling to my naturally good mood to think about the multiple hours of bullcrap i will have to endure.

do you guys have any tips or experiences to help me pass the boredom without getting into too much trouble?

Bring along some antiwitnessing literature and think of ways to sneak them into peoples Bibles and leave them in the stalls, etc...amuse yourself.

Who will survive Armageddon? What does the WT teach?

i made a comment to my 15 year old son last night about the arrogance of the jw teaching that all non-jws will be destroyed at armageddon.

he responded that i am mistaken, that the jws teach that jehovah reads hearts, even of those who are being preached to today.

in other words, no one is 'written off' like that, and btw he hates it when i take a teaching i don't like and exaggerate it like that..... .

Thanks for supplying the quotes. So, technically couldn't a jw be df'd or at least marked for teaching that jah will not destroy us evil non jw's? My husband has said similar things that it is not true that all non jw's will be destroyed. How is it possible they seem to know so little of their own literature?
