Contrast that message to the message most churches are doing this time of year- peace, goodwill to all, be generous with those less fortunate than yourself, volunteer, hope, importance of family, be joyful and so forth.

Yesterday's Watchtower Study (from October issue) "Stay Faithful Through the Gt. Tribulation"
by BluesBrother inthis article has all the trappings of wts apocalyptic theology, doom and destruction for "the world" salvation into paradise for the faithful .a schedule of future events is described thus :.
1) a worldwide proclamation of peace and security.
2) the destruction of "babylon the great"......it confidently names the characters from this visionary biblical reference, without any supporting reasons.. 3)the nations will then , as gog of magog , attack the wts and the members .

local, strange jw thinking
by lancelink ini was reading today that the last star wars movie will be playing next week.
doing a little searching, i found that there have been 12 movies in the saga total, ( box office, total (12 films): $9.323 billion.)..
it got me thinking about when the empire strikes back came out, it was the second movie ( 1980).

Science and Watchtower's astounding ignorance
by Diogenesister inwell these goof balls at jwbroadcast apparently think the study of pure science means not having any "practical application".
oi vey.
sanderson may speak russian but he is so ill educated he appears to think that researching a subject and formulating a theory about it means that's the end of it - in other words he's saying it has no practical use.

All the talking is all good and well but at some point you may have to agree to disagree. My jw didn't join up until we had been married for a very long time (longer than many marriages today). Finally, there was no getting through to him on the jw thing and there was no way in hell I would ever become one. Now? we do not discuss anything jw related, not a word. I do not leave apostate material around and he doesn't leave jw litter-ature around. Kind of an unspoken rule. Yes, he goes out in fs and to meetings and it still drives me crazy but I say nothing. In turn he can't say much about the Christmas tree going up and decorating the house!
We found a way to still go and have fun, vacations, dinners, family and so forth. Those first few years of him joining the cult were sheer hell I don't wish upon anybody and I don't care to repeat. I physically, emotionally and mentally could not keep doing the jw discussion thing. I would be in a loony bin if we still kept it up. In my mind his loony bin is the kh (ha, just kind of kidding).
Life will never be the same for you and your wife no matter what you decide. It can get better than it is now though if you both want it.
She is probably scared to death from her jw mindset. If you are able, show her love, bring her flowers, make her coffee and bring it to her, make her dinner, do something nice even if you don't feel like it. Make the effort, find a way back to each other and it can get pretty darn nice again. Not the same, but with love again.
She may need to know you are not becoming some devil worshiping, drug addled, fornicating apostate. You are still the same person who simply chooses to believe differently.
I know in my mind I have my pre-jw days I look so fondly on and sometimes still miss terribly and I am sure my jw wishes with all his heart that we could go together to the kh.
Wishing you well whichever road you take.

Totally-NOT-Holiday parties
by neat blue dog inanybody else in congregations that have parties in october for kids to dress in costumes and pick pumpkins, parties in november with turkey, fixings and candles, and parties in december with red and green colors and baking similar looking snow-themed desserts?
(not to mention the spiffy new wardrobes for easter.
i mean memorial season.

I forgot to add, all jw's should be married to a ubm then they get the best of both worlds like my jw! yep, he gets to do holidays (if he is not feeling super dubby at the moment) just to 'keep the peace'. Though I never know if this holiday or that will be graced by his attendance. The rest of us just chuckle over the whole thing now and shake our heads. We don't say anything because we all still like him. (yeah, we love him and his quirky ways, everybody knows he is just horribly misguided by the cult)

I remember a story (I think on this board) of a newbie jw who was told she could not go to her non jw grandma's house for Thanksgiving. The elder invited her to his house. When she got there she found a turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberries, the whole nine yards along with many friends and family. Yet he wasn't celebrating Thanksgiving, the grandma died shortly thereafter. assholes.

Aww! what a nice story!
Imagine her telling her friends about this cult and how they will also tell others this story! jw's continue to be their own worst enemy.
