@#$%&, so sick of this crap. Just what jw's need right now to stoke their fears as if there isn't enough going on in the real world. They are already nearly afraid of their own shadows.

The Watchtower—Study Edition | January 2022
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe watchtower—study edition | january 2022. during the great tribulation, gog of magog’s forces may try to assault us in our homes.
but we can take comfort in knowing that jesus and his angels are aware of what is happening and will defend us (see paragraph 13).
13. when gog of magog attacks, why will we appear to be vulnerable, but what reason for confidence will we have?

mickbobcat, you should have left someone at the table too. If you have surly teens/toddlers who look bored and impatient all the better, lol. You have to keep your table hostage so to speak. No, you shouldn't have to resort to such tactics but if you want to get out of there in a reasonable amount of time....
If you can ask for a certain wait staff and get to know them and request them every time you may do better. Or if possible get an older wait staff, they seem to understand the their job with you only ends once you walk out the door. If you forgot something at the table they will chase you down to give it back. Then they have done their job. They fully understand service = tips.

Long ago I was a waitress and making people wait for their bill always affected tips. One way to hurry it along is to put your coat on and stand up but do not leave the table. You hang onto your table so it cannot be cleaned and refilled until you have been fully taken care of. Or have your credit/debit card ready when she/he asks if you want anything further (desert, cof, etc) though with staff shortages you may end up waiting to get your card back (?) I have seen people follow wait staff who have their card because they were afraid of credit card theft and wanted to watch it being run through.
Why standing up works while trying to wave/flag down your server (please never clap or snap your fingers at them like a dog) is because they know everybody can see what is going on as well as the manager/owner who will give them a little heat for it.

Do any of you ex JW`s ever feel ashamed or embarrassed to admit you were once a JW? To your now friends / associates ?
by smiddy3 ini ask this now because i have been living in this town for the past 14 years and the circle of friends i have now i have never let on i am an ex jw.. i`m talking about 30-50 people at least.. not that the subject has ever really come up , but i think they would be shocked / amazed that i was a ( i hate this word ) a "devout" jw for 32 years going around knocking on peoples doors trying to convert them to the religion .. yet every now and again i get tempted to.. how say you ?.

I am very embarrassed to admit my husband is a jw. It can be humiliating especially at a function where the only people sitting down for the National Anthem are those in wheel chairs and my jw. Yeah, really love sitting by a vet with their Vietnam hats (or in the past Korea, or even a WW2). When I have had to tell anybody that he is one they usually respond with, "oh, I thought he was smarter than that" or "it's a cult". Funny, come to think of it, I have never not once had a positive response about jw's.

I told my jw about this and he didn't believe me, that was years ago. (he joined up later in life) Now if I ever bring it up he deflects and will not outright answer if he has heard of this or not. same old.

Years ago when I first came on this board I remember people talking about people 'not progressing' and were advised to drop them as a study. It seemed to me that the person who was not progressing kept asking questions the jw's could not answer. The r & f who did the study may get the elder involved but still the newbie would keep asking questions that had no official answer or may have even gotten the regular jw to start thinking in apostate ways so they got dropped. Then a newbie would end up at a place like this and ask, "what did I do wrong?"
The usual answer from the board was something like this, "you did nothing wrong! asking questions is always a good idea! You dodged a bullet!"

I remember reading a story of a lady who was in a nursing home and had dementia, she reverted back to her pre-jw days and started going to a Christian service on Sunday in the building. Singing all the old hymns, praying the whole nine yards and her daughter thought she should be df'd but the elder didn't think it mattered at that point. At least he had some common sense of the matter.
Another story, a jw ladies brother died and when cleaning out his house she found a bunch of porn and wanted him df'd even though he was already 6 feet under! The elder wouldn't df someone who was already dead.

If I had heard gee-hovah I would have thought the person was making fun. I think my jw would have thought the same way. Long ago I called jw's "jw's" and he thought that was disrespectful, now he will use the shortened version as well. He has no memory of it being 'disrespectful'. That's a cult for you.
