When issues would come that no jw could really explain, my jw would say; "you have to come to the meeting to understand". My response would be, " you mean I can't understand the Bible without the org AND I can't understand one of their magazines without going to a meeting? why hand out the mags then?". crickets.

A question about the contemporary generation teaching following a conversation with a JW apologist
by Giles Gray ini would like to ask the ex-jws on this site to put their ‘apologists hat’ back on for a moment, so that i can go through the overlapping generation teaching in an attempt to make sense of it.
i apologise if these points have already been addressed on this site.a quick background for the reason for my request… having never confronted a jw apologist on the topic, i recently engaged with a jw regarding the official understanding of a ‘generation’ and unfortunately he didn’t have an answer to the points i was making.
i was left a little confused as to what the official jw response would/should be.so i was hoping that my thoughts below might be considered from an apologist’s perspective.the point in question relates to this section of the watchtower article below from 2008, as well as the jw.org video explanation of the overlapping generation:---:w08 2/15[box on page 25] can we calculate the length of “this generation”?the word “generation” usually refers to people of various ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period or event.

What to do with old publications
by TonyMorronTheTurd inhi guys,.
it's been a while since i posted here, but i feel like posting again.. it's hard sometimes to find the energy to post here after i expend all my time working a full time job and pretending i care about the wt$ at the same time.. i've been trying to slowly wake my girlfriend up ever since i first posted here, and i must say it is a long waiting game that i am playing right now.
almost all my efforts are dismissed and i've been slowly losing hope.. anyways, what i meant to really post here today is about old publications.. honestly anything that has to do with the watchtower and jdubs, as of recently makes me feel like vomiting.

Donate to a cult ministry/organization or find a church that educates about cults. Or contact some of the anti jw sites and see if they want or need them.

Jehovah? Oh dear.
by Giordano insome recent new friends on this forum like friend kosonen are fixated with god's name being jehovah...unfortunately they are wrong:.
a quick bit of history:.
"about the 13th century the term “jehovah” appeared when christian scholars took the consonants of “yahweh” and pronounced it with the vowels of “adonai.” this resulted in the sound “yahowah,” which has a latinized spelling of “jehovah.” the first recorded use of this spelling was made by a spanish dominican monk, raymundus martini, in 1270.. interestingly, this fact is admitted in much jehovah’s witness literature, such as their aid to bible understanding (p. 885).

How annoyed would the gb be if people decided to pronounce their name differently?
Example, Tightpantstony, do you think he would like that to be his 'name' on a daily basis? Yet many ex jw's use it so would it be reasonable to use it on a daily basis and when discussing with active jw's?
They consider God their father yet call Him by His first name? sounds pretty disrespectful to me.
I'm with Smiddy on the whole Catholic thing! Asked my jw about years ago all I got was crickets, dear in the headlights and a quick change of subject. No surprise there.

JW Memorial Gallery
by neat blue dog injwdotorg released a picture gallery with dozens of images from around the world of jws celebrating ('commemorating') via zoom, organized by continent:.
https://www.jw.org/en/news/jw/region/global/2020-memorial-commemoration-international-photo-gallery/.
the vast majority of photos show the people's faces, but this european 'brother' is a rare exception.

If they drink that glass of wine later would it be considered 'taking part'? or must they throw it out and get a new glass later? or do they just not drink any wine at all on the reject Jesus day all together just to make sure?

Maybe they need to bounce it out of different countries and get multiple sites up? I have no clue how to do that but I think it can be done. Wasn't that done with the old 'Quotes' site for awhile?

US Letter Read Sunday 4/26 at Meeting - No KH Use and No Field Service Indefinitely
by JWTom inthere was a letter read sunday at our meeting that mentioned some parts of us are starting to open back up.
however, regardless of things opening up that no kingdom halls should be used for any meetings of any kind.
also, no door-to-door ministry or any form of in-person ministry is allowed.
