here are some that come to mind:.
- the capitalized term "governing body" when referring to the older men in jerusalem (really just another group of christians that paul outspokenly disagreed with and didn't look to for approval).

i see is that the vast majority of jws don't seem to understand what their religion actually teaches.. the more controversial or embarrassing doctrine - although still official doctrine that has never been rescinded - is just not talked about anymore in the magazines.

I have one I remember but do not have access to the actual quote- the one about taking 'air baths. One must jump around naked or something on that order. Russell or Rutherford days? hmm....
Something about steam engines rings a bell (being evil?) then there is all the inches in a pyramid and inches to Ohio (forgot city it was like a convention) The Harp of God is full of batshitcrazy stuff.

@Longhairgal, yes that is true! my jw will say things like, "we used to believe a lot of crazy stuff! we even celebrated Christmas and there is a picture of it!" -well no kidding! I'm the one that showed you that picture to begin with but now that you have asked and elder about it..... grrr, that was years ago, as a rule we try not to discuss anything jw these days.

The old 'Quotes' site used to have a lot!
MrRoboto, I thought that if new light has not been published on a subject the old light still stands? Naturally this does not include the blinking light on many subjects. If the r & f can pick and choose which old light they no longer believe how does this make them different from the 'churches' who allow their congregations to have freedom of thought?

Hines v. Watchtower
by DNCall inthe governing body's response to the above complaint has been extended by stipulation until february 11, 2022. it had been due today.
this should be an important case as it alleges csa at bethel with governing body members' knowing about it.

Door to door again?
by Zeds Dead indo you think the jdubs will start up the door whacking again one day?.
there has to be many inside the org that are dreading having to do that again and as for the general public seeing this, it’s hard to imagine.

"Why, are you scared of answering the door?"- Some people don't like pedophile protectors at their door especially if they have children. I don't answer my door to other salesmen why should I to someone selling a cult door to door?
If a jw was honest at the door they would say the following- would you like to join our organization that many consider a cult? you will be required to bring in as many people as you can and if they should ever choose to believe differently then you will be required to shun them even if it is your parents, children siblings, etc... if you don't then you will be considered spiritually weak and fellow jw's will probably shun you. We are not big on natural affections. Ignore any scriptures that clearly do not agree with us especially those about love in general and loving your neighbor, they are dead meat anyway at the big A. You will be required to dress as we see fit (subject to change), follow all doctrines (also subject to change at the whim of a few nutcases in NY) follow our bedroom rules with your spouse, feel superior to all other human beings at all times and at the same time feel like shit because you can never do enough for the org, turn in your time slip on a regular basis, attend all meetings, conventions, etc... never do any sort of research on your own, protect the organization even if means covering up for child abusers and lie on the stand if necessary, lie to those you love because we call it 'theocratic warfare', limit your free time and associations from non jw's, give up all holidays and family get togethers even though we still do Thanksgiving and other holidays but we distinctly tell everybody that we don't do holidays and lest I forget, be ready to kill your own children for lack of blood. How about it? ready to join?

I would find it difficult to imagine them going d2d with covid still going on even with the vax. How many people wanted to open their doors to them in times past much less now with covid?

If anyone (non jw ) doubts the veracity of a jw and general obnoxiousness you can always count on one like this one to make your point for you. I find it quite amusing when sending a Christian to a thread like this one to show them just how a jw truly acts. Though usually they can't believe the person is really a jw.
I ask jw's if they think they are making a case for their god or Jesus when they act like this and they go on to blame others for their behavior. Much like the abuser, "I wouldn't have to beat you if you just listened, believed and behaved like I wanted you to".
To some degree I can understand the jw thought about bringing reproach upon jah for the behavior in the cong, this one surely doesn't make one say, "wow, this guy is truly an enlightened holy guy! I want to join him so I can be just as much of a obnoxious ass as him".
At one time jw's used to be able to have actual discussions with people, sadly they know so little about jw doctrine, the Bible and history they don't know what to believe until their Lords in NY tell them what to believe.
