Personally, I wouldn't have thought it would matter how 'Watchtower' is written on a cheque. If I didn't know better, I'd think it's just a (not so) subtle way of telling the R&F to get their cheque books out!

Are they pushing this ''Glorious Ones'' 'title'? I never heard it when I was a dub. In fact, the Society (as I remember) always 'played down' the position of Elders, comparing them to other Religious Leaders who were criticised for having 'titles' - well frankly, you can't get a much bigger title than 'GLORIOUS ONE'! What a joke.

What age for baptism?
by wozadummy in.
when i was a mormon i was baptised at age 8.. as witnesses some get baptised pretty close to this age.. when they face all those years ahead with so much of life to learn and understand how can it be right to come down so hard on young people who, when going thru puberty and beyond have to come to grips with all the feelings and mixed up thinking of youth and then fall short of the ideal and ,say ,fall in love with someone and have sex and then face a judicial commitee.. everyone is different and it's naturally easier for some young ones than for others due to alot of factors and keep on the straight and narrow.. but here is my opinion on things, simply put , jesus as a perfect man was not called upon to dedicate himself for baptism and full dedication to god till he was 30!.
is it not reasonable to expect the same from imperfect people led by sinful inclinations to make a mature decision when older at 30 instead of a teen or even a preteen and expect full control and even repentence?

Oh - and for the record - I see Dub-Baptism as (mostly) a contract between a minor (which is null and void) or an ignorant individual (duress and/or undue influence etc) and a Cult.

Name Things JWs Try To "Demonize"
by minimus inthe witnesses are always trying to scare the faithful by telling them that if they don't adhere to the teachings and lifestyle of the brotherhood-----that bad things are going to happen to them.
for example, they might tell you of brother regret who left the "truth", had "fun" in the "world" and then got aids.
now he's back in the "truth" but he only has months to live................can you think of other examples of how the witnesses try to spook the rank and file?

I wonder if I've got time to go out and pick up a Demon before Mr Midwich gets here? Think about all those people having a 'threesome' and not knowing it?

I think they're phasing out the Bible, and concentrating more on brainwashing.

What Kinds of Weird Things were you banned from or not allowed as a child?
by mama1119 ini could not have a big new kids on the block pin, or wear any new kids on the block pins in puplic becuase it was considered idolatry.
i also could not wear my shoes without laces (it was cool back then) because it looked wordly.
what other strange theings besides the usual holiday/birthday stuff weren't you allowed to do?

Brother pain in the ass wants to come and visit
by buffalosrfree inmy wife told me she had been asked by a bother (elder type) in the congregation wanted to come by and visit me.
i told her thats fine as long as he doesn't bring anyone else with him and its not just right after he is out in service as i don't want to be used to garner time.
if he is really interested in being nice then come on by, but if not, not to waste his or my time by bringing someone else with him, if i don't know them they aren't welcome in my home, end of discussion.

He'll STILL count time for it.... I dreamt about an elder last night, if he knew, he'd count it as a visit.
