That's correct Blondie, she was 'asking a blessing' (pre meal), and used a paper napkin from table.

sistas work at bethel and quckbuilds yet cant carry mics or do lit. counter??
by oompa ini know paul said they were to be totally silent at meetings and jw's found a way to throw out the idea.....but where do all these weird rules for the ladies actually come from.....most are not in print but they are just an accepted idea?
all elders just seem to know it and do sisters ever ask to do something only the guys do?.
they can clean toilets, but not carry a clean mic?......nice.......they can pull weeds all day in the kh flower bed, but cant hand out territories or literature?.....but they can work full time at bethel in even special fields like law and medical field........and do all kinds of major work at quickbuilds and assembly halls........ also......tongues of fire hit the sistas in the upper room filled with 120.....they could speak in tongues, heal, and even prophesy!!

The 'sister' who covered her head was doing the pre-lunch prayer at our dining table at the assembly (it was a large room with individual tables, each seating about six people as I recall). I was a teenager at the time.

I remember first time I saw a 'sister' cover her head to pray (it was at an assembly at lunchtime) - she used a napkin, and I thought, 'WHAT...?' I suppose it was because, although there were 'brothers' in the dining hall, none were seated at our table

Good theory highdose (that'll be the swine flu kicking in, lol...any better..?). JW men have little status regarding Society's rules, so elevate themselves by making their own rules..? (badly put, but I know what I mean, lol)

The 'trousers' issue is crazy. I can understand it applying in the 1930s or whenever (when women who wore trousers were 'judged' to a certain degree, as it wasn't the 'usual dress code'...unless they were farmhands or similar) but not today. Even when I was at school, girls had to wear a skirt or pinafore as part of the uniform - but that has now changed to include trousers as a uniform option (and most girls opt for these as being more practical, and indeed warmer in cold months). If it's to appear 'businesslike' (as JWs appear to aim for that 'look') then, again, today's business women wear trousers/trouser suits. The WT is full of crap 'rules'.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions regarding "attention seekers"?
by BonaFide inwe all love it when people pay attention to us or our opinions.
but what i am talking about is people who crave and force attention from others.
not just people who talk a lot, but those that force everyone around them to focus on them and them only.. in one of my classes there is a woman who raises her hand to ask a question, but never really has a question to ask.

Isaac - yes. If we all started agreeing with 'her', she'd get fed up and start either a) start posting the opposite or b) defect to a different site and deliberately post conflisting thoughts. Maybe she did stumble upon this site by accident (originally), enjoyed the attention as a newbie...but then other newbies came along and suddenly (just like at the KH) they got the attention. She needed to grab the limelight again...didn't really matter how...but she's going too far. After being on this board for nigh on one year (?) reniaa KNOWS Mouthy is a genuine lady, yet she still can't let it pass. If someone offered to pray for my child(ren) I'd be flattered and pleased that they cared (regardless of religion), even if I didn't sgree. I certainly wouldn't throw it back in their face. Reniaa knows what she's doing - and by insulting our much loved 'senior member' (I mean that in a respectful way, Mouthy) she'll attract more attention and negativity. She hopes.

Mouthy - 'accepting' your prayer (which I think is very Christian of you) would break down the hostility that she enjoys so much. If she didn't 'agree' with it, the kindest thing would be for her to ignore it, but it isn't her style - she needs to make a public 'song and dance' about everything. She courts animosity, then cries 'victim'.

Lol Isaac - just checked my outbox - I'm sure I did a few weeks ago - it either never sent, or just remained in my head, lol.
