i know paul said they were to be totally silent at meetings and JW's found a way to throw out the idea.....but where do all these weird rules for the ladies actually come from.....most are not in print but they are just an accepted IDEA? all elders just seem to know it and do sisters ever ask to do something only the guys do?

they can clean toilets, but not carry a clean mic?......nice.......they can pull weeds all day in the KH flower bed, but cant hand out territories or literature?.....but they can work full time at bethel in even special fields like law and medical field........and do all kinds of major work at quickbuilds and assembly halls.......

also......tongues of fire hit the sistas in the upper room filled with 120.....they could speak in tongues, heal, and even prophesy!!!........yet none on the GB?.....why not?.........they would not have to "teach" as only elders can do......they would just be helpin make decisions by means of the powerful holy spirit they are filled with and guided by (vile fluid in mouth)..........oompa

i don't have the answer i'm afraid, i can only cite the one time i questioned the double standards for sisters rule:

i asked "An alpha sister" why we could not wear trousers since actualy it would solve alot of the issues about imodest dress and all women these days wore them? She agreed that there was no actual scriptural reason why sisters could not wear trousers, but then advised me not to make my views public or to encourge the sisters to wear trousers because "it might make the sisters want to take over other things, and the brothers take such good care of us!"

I still don't understand that jw's say women can't teach yet isn't that what the women at the doors are doing? attempting to teach us heathens? same with their 'bible wt studies', they are teaching, what else would you call it?

ok so i have a theory...

the borg is run along the theme of bullying, one of the favorite choices for this is women, give them the same rights as the brothers and you won't be able to pick on them or look down your nose at them anymore, and wouldn't that be a shame?(!)

The 'trousers' issue is crazy. I can understand it applying in the 1930s or whenever (when women who wore trousers were 'judged' to a certain degree, as it wasn't the 'usual dress code'...unless they were farmhands or similar) but not today. Even when I was at school, girls had to wear a skirt or pinafore as part of the uniform - but that has now changed to include trousers as a uniform option (and most girls opt for these as being more practical, and indeed warmer in cold months). If it's to appear 'businesslike' (as JWs appear to aim for that 'look') then, again, today's business women wear trousers/trouser suits. The WT is full of crap 'rules'.

Well, when I left they were so short on MS and others that they began utilizing the sistahs to do the accounts, territory & the literature. I do not know if they are still filling this role or not tho.

Good theory highdose (that'll be the swine flu kicking in, lol...any better..?). JW men have little status regarding Society's rules, so elevate themselves by making their own rules..? (badly put, but I know what I mean, lol)

I remember first time I saw a 'sister' cover her head to pray (it was at an assembly at lunchtime) - she used a napkin, and I thought, 'WHAT...?' I suppose it was because, although there were 'brothers' in the dining hall, none were seated at our table

So you have to wear a headcovering to do a private prayer?

hi michwich, yes swine flu is raging, but is giving me the chance to catch up on here:)

i can remember seeing my mother conduct a study with a man, she got out a head scarf and tied in on her head... i could see from the guys expression that he was totaly freaked out and had decided he wanted nothing to do with such a crazy religon!

shame that dubs are not able to see themselves as others do, but then i suppose that would break the spell?
