I remember Roddy Holyoake (surely there's only one?)...he was a full time pioneer in 'my' Congregation in the 1970s.

To Mrsjones5, Freudianslip, snowbird and other folks of color
by donny inbased on the material below from the faithful and discreet slave, i was wondering if any of you experienced any of this "enlightment" during your jw sojurn.
based on your pictures, i would have to say you must have been weak in the faith.
what is puzzling though, is why did michael jackson dissassociate himself just before reaching perfection?

I Googled that, and also found ......
Watchtower July 15 1902 The Negro Not A Beast pp. 215-216. “While it is true that the white race exhibits some qualities of superiority over any other, we are to remember that there are wide differences in the same Caucasian (Semitic and Aryan) family; and also we should remember that some of the qualities which have given this branch of the human family its preeminence in the world are not such as can be pointed to as in all respects admirable….The secret of the greater intelligence and aptitude of the Caucasian undoubtedly in great measure is to be attributed to the commingling of blood amongst its various branches; and this was evidently forced in large measure by circumstances under divine control.”

The year the end finally came: the YEAR OF THE BIG LIE
by Terry inyou have to understand three things to comprehend the significance of 1975.. 1975 was the end of the watchtower society as we who lived in the 50's and 60's once knew it.
it would forever change because it was exposed for all the world to see as a group of liars and deceived dupes.. it all began with a baptist farmer named william miller who sat down with only his bible and a concordance and a crackpot idea that a .
a "day for a year" and the gentile times meant something profound which would effect his own day and time.

Great stuff Terry ... I remember 1975 (as a young teen), the hype, the 'calculating Adam' thing...and when 1976 arrived times became critical - the World was 'living on borrowed time'...and now, after mentioning 1975 to those same hyped-up JWs, they deny it ever happened.

HOW ABOUT THIS FOR A CONSPIRACY THEORY!?
by Gill ini was surprised to find that charles taze russell, of the russell family line (of course) was reportedly part of the setting up of the skull and bones society.. i have read many refutes that ct was a 33 degree mason but, let's leave that as a possibility along with his 13 bloodlines of the illuminati link and consider this scenario as a possible and worrying possible conspiracy theory.. fritz springmeier and some others (again all holding suspension of our disbelief in control here for a few moments, please), commented on the setting up of internement style camps around the united states and some pictures and sites are to be found on the net.. now, there are various 'christian groups' all anticipating the 'time of the end'.
the jehovah's witnesses, for example are expecting to be persecuted and then 'saved' by god.
they anticipate 'the end' at any time.

"Should the Name Jehovah Appear in the New Testament?" WT Aug 1st 2008
by slimboyfat inhas this new article in the wt been discussed here yet?
if so i missed it.
anyway here are some selected quotes with my own thoughts.. bible scholars acknowledge that god's personal name appears in the old testament, or hebrew scriptures.

My personal view (now) is that God's name is NOT 'Jehovah', but a name lost in ancient Hebrew. If 'Jehovah' ever appeared in the NT, then what is the Greek translation?
The JWs insist that 'Christendom' removed the name to mislead the people, yet it was a Catholic monk who 'invented' Jehovah and presumably the Catholics inserted it into the OT. If the JWs were so pedantic about getting God's name right, they would surely adopt something closer to the original pronounciation than a Catholic monk's invention.
I (now) believe that JWs break the Commandment, ''I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me..." ...because they have invented one in HIS place.

Right. I made my "error" by mouthing the greeting to my arch Nemesis who had freaked in response.
I don't believe that...I reckon her nose was out of joint as you'd 'got the better' of her previously. I reckon she'd have taken the same action whether or not you'd spoken to her.

embarrassed about having been a witness?
It's sort of like admitting to being gullible...the only positive thing is that I (we) are educated as to Cults/WT propoganda/brainwashing. I honestly believe there are no 'intelligent' JWs (as in those that attend actually believe - I appreciate some JW non-believers attend for 'other' reasons)

I mentioned the name Jehovah ....That many who leave the WT hold it in contempt. Rick & Bob felt it is Gods name ....I am sorry I dont .....I would rather use Yaweh if we use anything But I refer to God as FATHER!!!!!
Hello Grace...you have a good Christian Conscience, anyone can see that! I agree absolutely with your above statement, for as much as JWs criticise 'Christendom' and blame them for removing God's 'name' from the Scriptures, wasn't it a Catholic monk (Raymundo Martini?) who INVENTED the name 'Jehovah' (in the 13th Century?) which was then inserted in one or two places in the CATHOLIC Bible...?
Happy Belated Birthday Too!

Stupid Knorr! Should Witnesses have Sunday school just for kids?
by Witness 007 inimagine sitting thru the watchtower study on a sunday with your 6 year old and 9 year old kids....the topic "fornication" the discussion explains how oral sex and touching of genitals is still fornication...why do kids have to sit thru this??
or the bible reading is about lot having sex with his daughters....this type of thing is not for kids!
and why should kids be forced to sit quietly while someone drones on for 2 hours?.

How is talking about things of an adult, intimate and sexual nature classed as worshipping? In my opinion, Social Services should be aware of what (very young) minors are subjected to at these so-called 'family worship' meetings...it's disgusting.
