Imagine sitting thru the Watchtower study on a Sunday with your 6 year old and 9 year old kids....the topic "Fornication" the discussion explains how Oral Sex and touching of genitals is still fornication...WHY do kids have to sit thru this?? Or the bible reading is about Lot having sex with his daughters....this type of thing is not for kids! And why should kids be forced to sit quietly while someone drones on for 2 hours?

Witnesses should have had a Sunday school for kids, something more interesting for them, but since Knorr said families MUST worship together these Sunday schools were banned.

I agree. If I could drag myself to worship somewhere else, Sunday School and children's ministries are a must.

Things change......so many of us born-in mothers and fathers are passive or totally resistant to spanking. I didn't get swatted but I can still see the soft dark red carpet in the spanking room (library). Heck the group of parents that leave the Assemblies and Conventions because of kids is growing....just duck out at the next one and head to the hotel pool. You will find quite a few more then expected.

I think to gain and retain we will see more 'activity' centered around children and families like that in Christendom.

On another note....I had a kiddie TMS three Saturdays a month 1976-1980. We used the Paradise book then in 1979 switched to the MBoBS. I gained some very good skills and enjoyed every minute of it too.

BTW my son (3yrs) time limit for sitting is 25 minutes......then out to the parking lot to play with others his age.

What I remember most about being a Witness from childhood is being spanked and slapped on a regular basis for not being able to sit still at the KH.

I had a hyperactive son and I did not believe in spanking him because he couldn't sit still. I would take him in the back but only to practice sitting where he couldn't disturb anyone. I can't tell you how many parents came up to me advising me on how to spank him so it hurt, (wooden spoon, etc). I mean when he was a baby still! A couple of times, my husband hauled off and whacked him out of impatience and I was so upset and I got up and left the meeting and went home. Stopped for ice cream on the beach on the way too. This was when I was a totally believing dub too. Well, maybe I wasn't totally believing everything or I would have stayed in the back room and whacked my kid more!

How is talking about things of an adult, intimate and sexual nature classed as worshipping? In my opinion, Social Services should be aware of what (very young) minors are subjected to at these so-called 'family worship' meetings...it's disgusting.

I think so to, but something fun though....I went to Catechism one time with a friend by the same name that was cool, anyways I had the best time there I wanted

to go every Saturday with her, but of course my mom would not let me, she was jw. I'm not sure how I got to go i think I asked my "Worldly opposed dad"...lol

From WTS point of view, it has been one of the major strategical mistakes not to implement anything really child specific in terms of meetings. Even the stuff for kids they come up with is highly inappropriate. They harvest what they sow.

The Proclaimers book mentions that some branches actually had kid friendly stuff. Rutherford stopped it for the sake of unity! Knorr kept the foolishness going.

In the Washtowel Slaveholdery, children are just miniature adults. They are expected to behave as adults. They are supposed to be baptized by the time they reach age 6, or they are going to get hounded and the parents will see houndings. Never mind that some of the washtowels are not suitable for children under about 14--some for violence as well as graphic sex descriptions.
