Several years ago my stepdad met his wife now on the internet. He was DF'd for a short time. Not because of the internet, but because he wasn't "scriptually free" to marry.
His second wife left him after he was investigated by Child Protective Services. When I found out she had 2 young daughters, I called CPS and told them about him molesting me. I couldn't have lived with myself if he had touched them and I had done nothing.
The powers that be can't stand it if they feel they are losing any control. If it were me getting called on the carpet, I'd have to laugh at them. They are really reaching to control something they will never have control over!!

I've had the pleasure of knocking a couple doctors down a peg or two--then holding my breath. One time, my supervisor had a few words to add to the discussion. It was priceless!

SCHIZOPHRENIA + JWS = ??
by lisaBObeesa ini really am upset right now, and for a wide variety of reasons.
but number one on my list right now is my worry about my aunt.
my aunt is schizophrenic and obviously off her meds.

Lisa-
First thing, like was already mentioned--make sure your aunt is somewhere safe.(Even if it does piss someone off.) Ask about her meds, but chances are she'll say whatever she thinks you want to hear. I've dealt with alot of mentally ill people--98% of the time they are either not taking their meds, or needs their meds adjusted. Since she has just been released from the hospital, she should already have an appointment with a psychiatrist. (If not, she needs one right away .) You can always call and talk to him. BUT--he cannot tell you anything due to Dr./patient priviledges. You can tell him your concerns, maybe get a faster appointment.
I have dealt with a couple of JW's and mental illness. Even after doing alot of education with them, they are still convinced that it's the "demons" because the patient was "spiritually weak". They are convinced that MORE service work, more studying the JW literature, more prayer, etc.......is the only way to be rid of mental illness. Elders and MS are not trained to deal with true mental illness. They use guilt to try and scare people. So the mentally ill person carries on added pressure, thinking this is all their fault---hence suicide attempts occur.
I can vouch for this--I'm bipolar--many suicide attempts, ect. If I would have listened to them, I know I'd be dead today.
If your dad is being "weird" intentually--it's doing alot more harm than good. In most all states they have an "Adult protective services". There is emotional abuse going on here. Is he making sure she's taking her meds? I think they'd be interested in hearing about blaming the demons. Talk like this needs to be addressed ASAP. It can cause damage that might not ever be undone. Mentally ill people sometimes cannot differentiate between what is true and what's not.
Sorry I got carried away. I've just seen the damage done to patients. Please, at least call her doctor. Oh- one more question--does your dad have any type of power of attorney (health &/or financial) over her. It's a big NO NO- to withhold any medical care.

PS- Another idea--if you are here in the US all states have mental health advocates. You can call the local mental health facility for the number. They are there to advocate for the patient. They usually are great people!

My sisters and I used to get in trouble on the way home from either an assembly or a meeting if we couldn't come up with something that we learned. Usually all I could show was dooddling (is that a word?). Sometimes I'd get busted for writing notes. That's when the "hard" questions would start!

I'm disappointed in you Simon. Maybe the US didn't handle things exactly right, but what about all the thousands of people Sadam slaughtered? Iraq is still connected with terrorism.
I don't think you would like it if we trashed your, or anyone else's country.

Why do the WT call ex-jw's "apostate"? Even if we still love Jehovah,Jesus?
by booker-t ini was wondering the other day when my neighbor(who is an jw elder) called me an "apostate" for refusing to return to jw's.
when i left the wt i never stopped loving jehovah and jesus i just could not stomach the wt society anymore.
there are alot of us ex-jw's who still love jehovah and jesus and still read our bibles.

Because they want to keep the rank and file in fear. So they have to label somehow. Like it was already mentioned, they associate apostates with demons. So basically we are all "demonized". Personally, I wear it like a badge of honor.

I have to agree with Kid-A. No one ever knows the story behind the pregnancy. A woman should have the right to make her own decision.
If it was a man, don't you think they would insist on having the right to make their own decision??

I lived in Texas for many years. I haven't heard of that town. But then, Texas is a big state. I know there's a Fanin County in north Texas. There's a "Haslet, TX" around the DFW area. I hope you find it. I'm curious to know where it is, too.
