I read somewhere that Ray Franz had a lot to do with the research and writing of this mighty tome.
You have a good memory my friend, Bigmouth.

i have the original release of the aid to bible understanding book (english), copyright, 1971 (inside front cover).
only if there is a later copyright date cited in your aid book will i need your help.
i wish to make a word for word comparison of certain articles that were found in the aid book, then transcribed into its predecessor -- the insight on the scriptures.. .

I had forgotten, Bigmouth, until I ran across those KM announcements last night.
One reminded me how much I paid, $7, for the full version, which I have now. I recall my ex-wife looking at me with daggers in her eyes as I rushed from our stadium seats to be one of the first in line. That was a lot of money in those years considering the 4 children to feed and clothe.

errata: a list of errors and their corrections or additions to the printing, found after book has been printed, usually on separate sheet or slip of paper.
... (internet).
recently (2006) our friend atlantis posted a download link to the society's equivalent to an errata for their "revelation-its grand climax at hand".
Hi Nathan,
Thanks for that reference.
I'd be tempted to try a strong backlight in combination with a magnifying glass. You may be able to make out some of the underlying text. Laborious, but worth a try.

Recently (2006) our friend Atlantis posted a download link to the Society's equivalent to an errata for their "Revelation-Its Grand Climax At Hand". Atlantis calls it an adhesive cut and paste instruction kit!
[By the way, it continues to be available to those of you who are curious. His instructions and the link are as follows:

My question is related since the Society is known (at least, by me) to have produced other errata sheets for published books in the past. Circa 1971 for either the "Then is Finished the Mystery of God" or the "Babylon the Great Has Fallen! God's Kingdom Rules!" (1963). I can recall cutting and pasting replacement strips of sentences and paragraphs.
One in particular was where some symbolic entity represented Jesus or Satan. The replacement strip reversed it -- as simple as that. We talked about it at the book study. It was a hoot.
Can you think of any instances where such an errata was distributed by the Society, especially during the 90's or earlier?

No, Caba, I don't have that. Further, I am on a slow connection and I understand that it is a monster download. If you, or someone with it, take a peek for that copyright date -- and it's much newer than 1971, that will tempt me to download it.

I wish to make a word for word comparison of certain articles that were found in the Aid book, then transcribed into its predecessor -- the Insight on the Scriptures.
Please scan at least the entire Aid book paragraph (the whole page is not needed) which resembles the following Insight on the Scriptures quotations and which are embedded in the following 5 articles:
*** it-1 p. 616 Destruction ***
This is also illustrated by what happened to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and their inhabitants. Jude indicated that these cities were everlastingly destroyed. (Jude 7; compare 2Pe 2:6.) However, Jesus’ words recorded in Matthew 10:15 show that at least some of the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah will receive a resurrection.--See JUDGMENT DAY.
*** it-1 p. 985 Gomorrah ***
Though the cities underwent "the judicial punishment of everlasting fire" (Jude 7), Jesus indicated that people of Sodom and Gomorrah would experience a resurrection to stand for judgment.
*** it-2 p. 137 Judgment Day ***
This projected the matter into the future and naturally suggested that the people of Sodom and Gomorrah would then be alive by means of resurrection.
*** it-2 pp. 775-776 Repentance ***
By contrast, the people of Sodom and Gomorrah as well as those of Canaanite Tyre and Sidon are spoken of by Jesus as finding "Judgment Day" more endurable than would the people of certain Jewish cities. (Mt 10:14, 15; 11:20-24) Those of pagan Nineveh are similarly spoken of. (Mt 12:41) This of itself implies that people from all such places, including the Jewish cities mentioned, will be resurrected and have opportunity to manifest humble repentance and "turn around" in conversion to God through Christ.
*** it-2 p. 985 Sodom ***
Sodom and Gomorrah were everlastingly destroyed as cities, but this would not preclude a resurrection for people of those cities.

if you can understand the written word in german, italian, portuguese, or spanish -- you can help.
oh, you will also need to have access to a copy of insight on the scriptures (it).. insight on the scriptures was first released in english, at the divine justice conventions.
the actual release of that two volume set began on friday, june 17, 1988. .
Thanks, Atlantis -- once again. Len

Thanks bennyk and behemot for sharing your expertise.
As an aside, does anyone know if there was an errata (Sheet of corrections) distributed to the publishers so users could cut and paste into their English copies of Insight? I recall that they did something like this in the early 70's for the Bookstudy publication at that time.
If they did and you have a copy, can you scan it for us?
Recently (2006) our friend Atlantis posted a download link to a 5 page PDF, under topic, The "Revelation-Its Grand Climax At Hand" adhesive cut and paste instruction kit! The download link was eventually disabled for obvious reasons.
They did it years ago and they've done it recently.
As I see it, this Insight set of 2 volumes represents their major encyclopedic research tool and is cited regularly. By not creating an errata for those 5 articles, that would be an oversight or a coverup.

i believe the following quotes (2005 wt cd library) from watchtower publications may be last that reference the bible as infallible.
*** w01 5/15 p. 6 gods permission of suffering nears its end ***.
moreover, jehovah gods infallible word, the holy bible, shows that we are living in the last days of human rule independent from god.. .
Thanks for that 1928 WT quote, bob1999. If Rutherford were alive, I'd thank him as well since he probably was the source of this writing. "... As every one knows, THERE ARE MISTAKES in the Bible. ..."
It's simply another one of their contradictions that you can add to the pile. Not a surprise to most here if it weren't for the fact that they come down strong against those who are contradictory. Here, they embrace the text of one of it's quoted sources: "Why must we accept everything that the churches teach when many of the teachings are confusing and contradictory?" The Watchtower, 2003, 12/1 p. 4.
