i knew i had a little time to think.
when the doorbell rang i was ready.. we've got a few more days here in houston, just north of braes bayou and near stella link rd.

I learned to read with Dick and Jane and Sally. How about you?
by Fatfreek ini can hardly believe the prices they're getting for pristine copies of those books they handed out to those of us with scalps populated with lice, hands and fingers encrusted with bits of jelly and dried mud.
they're getting between $100 and $200 per copy.. thanks to google images, i couldn't resist taking another peek between some of those charming colored pages as a reminder to what we were actually exposed to in trying to make us literate.. most of these look contemporary to when i went to school -- the 1940's.
one of them may go back into the 1930's.

Chromolithography -- tell me how to do it
by Fatfreek inno, i don't wish to actually try the process.
i prefer the digital age.
i only want to know the steps of the process they used way back when.

Large download, Golden Age, Consolation, Kingdom News -- searchable?
by Fatfreek ina recent thread mentions the following link to download the above-mentioned publications.
at 530 mb size, that is a sizeable download on my slow connection.
i'd like to do it but only if the documents are text-searchable.. http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4215561/watchtower_periodic_%28golden_age__consolation__kingdom_news.

Who's the best JWN liar? I'll start -- "we shun you cuz we love you"
by Fatfreek ina wisconsin man won top prize in the "world's best liar" contest.. the burlington liars club gave its top award to 58-year-old public health inspector jerry legro of sun prairie.
his lie: ""i just realized how bad the economy really is.
i recently bought a new toaster oven and as a complimentary gift, i was given a bank.".

Russell re Millerite founder -- "Father Miller" no less than 4 times
by Fatfreek inmost of us know about the millerites and their founder and how some 50,000 folks during the 19th century looked for the end.
question: was there any link between them and the founder of the watchtower society?.
i will quote below the first reference of miller to illustrate that russell's feelings for miller were by no means antagonistic but were fond and loving.

Flu shots at local (Woo Hooooo) church!
by Fatfreek inseveral days ago my wife and i got our flu shots, both the h1n1 and the seasonal variety.. the local assembly of god church volunteered the use of their adjacent building (looks like a huge cafeteria) and things couldn't have gone any smoother.
we were in and out in less than 5 minutes because we'd already filled out the forms.. it struck me that this is something jehovah's witnesses would probably never do -- offer their facilities for some public service.. yes, i've been out for some 32 years.
has anything changed?.
