  a year ago today my husband was arrested after he tried to kill his own friend and a police officer, with a knife.

  they shot him, and he has been in jail, having various kinds of hearings, awaiting trial since then.

  every day as i go about my life i think about his choices - if he had thought longer before he took that first dose of meth, he might still have his comfortable life, freedom to go fishing when he wants, nice work, friends, so on.

  You know it's true.... there's always someone else who has had it worse than ourselves.

  Barbie Doll...........I don't know how you did it, but..... I am Glad you survived your ordeal.... I don't think I could have handled dealing with such on a daily basis. I hope he got what he deserved somewhere along the line.

  Hortensia, I never had to deal with your situation either... sometimes you just have to let yourself think about it for a little bit, it's part of the healing process... better than bottling it up. I still do, usually on the anniversaries.... I cry some, then move on...

  I admire both of you Ladies for getting past the hurt and moving on...

  Thanks Hortensia....

  All of us are "Survivors" of one thing or another in this world. Some have a little more than their fair share sometimes.

  Having been widowed twice, and both of my daughters losing their fathers at young ages... I felt I had had my limit...and also contemplated doing away with myself. At that moment, I realized I was only thinking of "MYSELF".... that's how I came to the conclusion as to what my first husband was thinking... I would bet on it. My girls were more important to me, and I came to my senses.

  Life goes on ....

  You sound positive in your out look now.....I am happy for you that you are able to work past some of it. It takes time tho.... everyone has their own pace.... I'm in the middle somewhere...

  Hortensia,

  My heart goes out to you....on some level I can understand what you mean by...."wrapping my mind around it".

  My first husband committed suicide. He also threw it all "Away". A good job in the Air Force, a wife and small daughter. I also have no idea what he was thinking... except that in reality... he was thinking of "NO ONE" but himself. Period.

  Yes, a person does get past the initial shock of it all, the pain lessens, the what ifs calm down... but the memories...they linger for a life time.

  I am sorry you had to experience such an ordeal....

  Living as a former JW

  while i personally have not yet made this jump (final meetings will be first week of june).

  i hear many wishing me "happy easter" i wonder how many of you have adjusted?.

  i don't think i can unlearn that most holidays are "pagan", after all even the history channel confirms this fact.

  It's a learning process. You will find it takes years and years to unlearn the dub nonsense

  I completely agree with this. For me there was a lot of guilt feelings at first, it takes time... everyone has their own pace.

  What lies out there beyond the KH parking lot? .... "Freedom"

  ok, i'm driving down the road today with the hubby from our favorite bookstore, trying to get home so i can take my daughter to her scout meeting and i get a buzz in my ear from my cell from my father (i have bluetooth .

  whew!.

  my hubby, the nut that he is, asks if my dad wanted me to go to california for the memorial.

  Oh I forgot to add when my hubby asked what my father wanted I told him that Dad invited me to an Uncommunion - passing around the crackers and wine and just looking at it.

  LOLOL.... Love that line...

  Glad your situation went well........I still haven't been invited.... I feel so left out.....(again).......

  Scariest Movie you have ever seen?

  i know as exjws, probably for the most, there was a secret freedom in watching horror films without thinking you would have a demon as a bed buddy.. i am not very fond of every horror movie, but i will watch those that have an intelligent side to it and is not gore for the sake of gore.

  like "the ring" got me going when i first watched it, just like "the blair witch project" did, which is more about suspense.

  anyway, i never saw any of the saw movies, so i am going to try to watch saw iii tonight, since it is on showtime.

  Exorcist and Poltergeist

  These two did me in. I have a really hard time dealing with movies that involve Satan. Plays on my mind. I still to this day, think my bed shakes sometimes, and I saw these movies when they - FIRST - came out.

  "Hills Have Eyes" ruined my desire to drive across the US....

  Totally Blown Away

  hi all.... i started reading and posting here some years ago, as my stepchildren were being raised jw's by their mother, and at one time in my misguided life i had studied w/the jw's.. anyway, time went by and we had less and less contact with the kids...until a couple of weeks ago.

  my stepdaughter j swung by the house and we noticed something very different about her.

  she was lively, talkative, fun!

  Were You Ever Counseled Because Of What You Wore (or didn't)?

  after reading the thread about what is acceptable to wear and not wear in a factory run by jehovah's witnesses, i wondered whether any here ever got counseled or in trouble because of their fashion sense or attire.

  Not me personally, just the tennis shoe incident at the DC that I've mentioned several times...

  But the Sisters as a whole were counseled many times from the platform. Sunday got to be "Hat Day" for many.... that lasted all of 2 Sundays.

  Fishnet stocking became popular........that got vetoed quickly, along with belts, worn over long form fitting sweaters with a skirt....."Can't" be drawing attention to your "Bottom".

  One major "Lecture" was given after the Memorial one year, when a very sincere and kind sister's, two grown and rebellious, daughters showed up... in short black "Leather" dresses with chains, zippers and cut outs.....they really put on a show. I felt so bad for their mother........

  I hated how we were all being inspected when we walked in........
