LOL, I've been told that before on here.
I guess "Casper" the cartoon character IS male, although it never entered my mind at the time I picked the name.
Maybe I should change it to "Casperette"... if we ever get the chance.
"ette" - Used to form nouns meaning the female equivalent of.

Were You Proud To Be A Witness?
by minimus inas a kid, i was.
whenever i recieved "persecution", i knew i was doing something good for jehovah.. "worldly" people about my being a jw.. were you proud or ashamed as a witness?.
-
Casper
No, I was embarassed to tell people I was a JW.
I never did feel comfortable being a witness, I can only imagine how my daughters must have felt being dragged into such a thing. So many regrets !

The homeless sister and the $60,000 RV
by HappyGuy ini was in a congregation once which had a large number of desperately poor people in it.
there was an elderly sister, she lived near me, a sweet woman, who became homeless because her ramshackled old house caught fire.
around that same time one of the overseers (imagine that using a slavery term), i forget if it was district or circuit overseer, came to town wanting a new rv/truck combo.

What Happens After You Leave?
by Cold Steel ini'm not a witness, but i have to ask..... what happens after you leave?
do you turn against all religion or do you find another?
people say they're happy when they leave...that they feel free, but i'd hate to think that people give up on everything religious.. if you do stay religious, how many doctrines of the jws do you retain?
-
Casper
I imagine most people find they are deluded once, that they erect a wall that will prevent them from being taken in again.
Hi Cold Steel,
I feel this is what I have done. When I have researched some other religions in the past, I find I am always looking for the flaws.
I have a real fear of being taken advantage of again, to the point I have almost given up ever finding anything that fills the spiritual void that I feel.

Did you Exit the Witnesses Gradually - Or Exit Suddenly - Your Reasons ?
by flipper ini thought it would be good to discuss it to understand what caused some of us to exit suddenly, or some to exit gradually .. myself , i had been in 44 years , had mentally had doubts for years before exiting - but injustices by the elders and my doubts about the " generation " doctrine led me to exit suddenly one night before a meeting.
the elders pissed me off , i went to my seat, picked my books up and walked out - never going back.
so what is your story and reasons ?
-
Casper
Hi Mr. Flipper,
Basically I just walked away. Many here have read my history many times, my husband died, I couldn't stand the memories at the hall... blah, blah, blah.
I don't think the Elders knew what to do with me, so they left me alone. I do believe though, after a few months, if they had really tried to incourage me, I would have went back. They didn't, and after I really "Woke Up", it was too late.
I've had my "Freedom" now for 11 years...
