Ofcourse i get child benefit, who doesn't? is it wrong to have kids now?
I havn't chosen to be a mum just so that I can get a council house and benefits, I worked right up to being 8 months pregnant and I plan on working again shortly, either that or doing a college course.

Scotsman - I may only be 25 but having a 2 year old daughter hardly makes me a chav, I don't claim benefits, my partner works hard to provide for us, and I don't even own a baseball cap.

under 74 - I'm not particularly worried about it, however, I have 2 kids and I don't want them to grow up thinking its ok to bunk off school because when they leave school at 16 they can get jobseekers allowance, and if they happen to get pregnant its ok because they will qualify for a council house and will never have to work.
Some people in this country work really hard and struggle while others just take the easy road and pick up their giro once a fortnight, its unfair, it doesn't worry me but it makes me mad.

under 74 - There is plenty of help available here for kids under the age of 18, but how much help can people keep giving with nothing back in return.
The soft approach isn't working, statistics aren't my strong point but there are still a lot of unemployed young people who have no direction or interest in life, other than trouble making.
College courses are free but a lot of them can't even be bothered to enrol, so not much chance of them looking for a job.
Are tax payers just expected to keep throwing money at them?

Scotsman, as a teenager I was in the army cadets, not the same thing granted but I was never a trouble maker and I would have loved to have joined the army anyway had it not been for the fact that I began a bible study.
It would have given me more of a direction in life, allowed me to grow up with some ambition rather than just doing one dead end job after another.

I think national service should be compulsary for everyone, girls and boys, I just think it would be even more beneficial for chavs and especially young offenders, bloody hell, does nobody watch Bad Lads Army?

under 74 - these kids have more than enough encouragement, all the way through school they get encouraged and offered help, but there is such a strong drug/alcohol culture here, that they are too interested in commiting crimes and getting wasted to care, its discipline that they need.
