"Brooklyn Heights is as good as it gets once you go outside Manhattan. I can't think of a more desirable place to do a project," Von Spreckelsen told The Post during a "topping off" party for the company's 1 Northside Piers condo project in Williamsburg Tuesday night. The three buildings, being sold as one package, are the 12-story former Standish Arms Hotel at 169 Columbia Heights, between Clark and Pierrepont streets, and seven- and four-story apartment buildings on the same street. Toll is expected to be one of many suitors to submit offers next month to the Jehovah's Witnesses, who are selling six of their 30 buildings in the booming Brooklyn Heights/DUMBO area. The Witnesses say they are not using an outside agent and haven't set asking prices. But J. Jean Austin, a broker for Brooklyn Bridge Realty, estimates they can rack up more than $60 million for the six sites - including about $45 million for the three being sold in a portfolio.   OMG!!!! I read this puff piece and it angers me to no end. WHAT???? The quote of Rice was about religion oppressing non believers. The Muslim faith oppresses anyone that does not agree with their belief as do JWs. For Joel to invert the Rice quote and then cheerlead this commentary for a group that judges him worthy of death is beyond comprehension. This is the equivalent of the Jews promoting Hitler as a human rights spokesman. Does the man have any morals whatsoever? The gay community should disfellowship him for his disingenuous actions.
