I know I'm probably in the minority on this...but I think these type things backfire on whoever is trying to reach JWs with their message. I think it's best to just let the JWs have their conventions and their meetings and not picket them or try to steal their thunder. They have the right to practice their religion, so let 'em. (I know that they don't afford all of us those same oppurtunities or rights, but I like to think I'm bigger than them and willing to be fair and practical)

Well said,exception being that if you picket outside their events like i did for years and it gets the NEWS media involved and dissident apostates are presented on the evening news.That's what's really cool

New Watchtower format is all because of Blondie!

i was just reading a thread about the new 'exciting' format for the watchtower and how there will be a jw only edition.

add to this what i believe is the new rule that da'd and df'd people are not allowed to receive the magazines unless they attend meetings.

this all got me thinking.... .

i was contacted a while ago by a lawyer who wanted to discuss something i posted on jwd on the blood issue.. .

however, i was surprised to find how afraid this particular person was of the wt society who had already attempted to get this person into trouble with their employer in an almost slanderous way.

this non jw was more desperate to be incognito than me and obviously afraid for their job and reputation in wanting to disclose, make public the reality of the watchtower blood ban!.

By ERIC TORBENSON / The Dallas Morning News Irving-based Razzoo's Cajun Cafe settled a religious discrimination lawsuit Tuesday for $38,750 after the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued the chain on behalf of a fired employee. Sabrina Balentine, a Jehovah's Witness, declined to participate in birthday cheers at the Mesquite location of Razzoo's in 2006 because her faith doesn't recognize birthdays. The 19-year-old said she offered to do other activities when servers sang to customers, but was fired. Razzoo's agreed to a two-year consent decree as part of the settlement and will adopt an anti-discrimination policy for religious accommodation. Razzoo's said it disagreed with the suit and said it did not fire Ms. Balentine. A spokeswoman said Ms. Balentine never told the restaurant about her concerns.

i decided to read for myself the articles my father and mother were reading during this interesting time in witness history.

i stumbled upon the following paragraph that scared the bejeezus out of me: .

The hospital said it had agreed with the woman before the surgery that it would not transfuse any blood to her. Although she bled copiously after delivering her child in May, doctors at the hospital only took steps to arrest the hemorrhage. She died several days later, according to the hospital. A hospital official said, "We briefed her about the danger involving the surgery and we repeatedly urged her family to accept a blood transfusion. But in the end we respected the patient's wishes."

The couple is taking the BC government to court over a decision to seize the children in order to perform blood transfusions, something doctors felt medically necessary, but forbidden by the family's religion. The BC Court of Appeal has upheld an earlier decision, in which the court ruled lawyers for the parents could not cross examine doctors on affidavits explaining why they felt the transfusions were required. When it goes to trial, the parents' lawyers will argue doctors ignored alternate treatments which would have negated the need for the babies to receive blood.
