i strictly adhere to speed limits. I'm constantly looking at the meter to make sure i'm not 5 m/hr ahead of the posted speed limit. I let it loose on the major highways though.

i didn't get a ticket in over 15 years, although i drive alot.. i always wear my seatbelts, never go more than 10 to 15 mph over the speed limit, and make decent stops, not dead stops, but decent ones..... here in quebec, if ya do a lousy stop, but that i mean if you don't completely stop, they call tha an american stop here.

I miss the "free" food.

My mom used to give me the roast beef sandwhiches and take the tasty hoagies, god i hated roast beef :-(.

This is a great thread. I calculated 360 hours for myself last night during the meeting. But thats just cause i barely go out in the "ministry" and i havent prepared in about 4 years, lol.

Couple of JW Sisters came to my door - mini rumble
by Qcmbr infirst of all want to thank you all for informing me of the good the bad and smurfly about jws - i was so stoked when these two sister's knocked on my door.
i apologise now - i was a smug git - in fairness they conducted themselves impeccably in the face of me.
this is how it went (paraphrased to highlight 'clever' bits i said and downplay swathes of conversation when i said silly things.

I'm surprised they stayed for that long.
most of the time, they'd run off your porch and call an elder, lol.
Personally, when i went/go door to door i try to get a yes or no answer from the householder, anything else and i try to leave, lol.

if are not regular in meetings and service of field than you're signalling that you're no longer a jehovah's witness.

Congrats.I'm a computer software engineering major (comp sci) and graduating in two years.
Being a witness and going to college is an extremely hard thing to do. I think the way the "brothers" and "sisters" treated me at the meetings did more damage to my "spirituality" more than JWD would have ever managed. In the end, i just hope they see that they wasted their lives away...

anyway, incredibly good movie.
the first trailer was awesome, but the second trailer kinda turned me off, but the movie was extremely well done(the guy who directed x-men 2, directed this movie, so not surprised).

Brandon Routh was an excellent Clark Kent/Superman, Kevin Spacey did a spectacular Lex Luthor and Lois lane, well, lois really isnt very hard to do, but i think kate bosworth did a good job.
Anyway, highly recommended to any supes fan and all of you should see it. on a side note, got the DC this weekend so pray for dune. :-(

Any elders you know remarry?
by sinis inwell, i remember this goofy elder in the local kh i used to attend.
one elder in particular was a real piece of work.
his poor handicapped wife, who was extremely nice, was ruled by him with an iron hand.

Thats a crazy experience @ sinis. We had an elder that outlived two wives (both younger by at least 5 years) and married another just recently. He should be around 81 now.

Did You Believe "The End" Was Going To Come In Your Lifetime?
by minimus inwhen the society came out in 1966 with the info that 6000 years of man's existence would come to an end by 1975, i thought it was a crock.
for 9 long years, all jws did was speculate about "when" the great tribulation was going to begin.
i always thought of jesus' words about "nobody knowing the day or the hour"----yet jehovah's witnesses figured it out?

I was told when i was 8/9 years old that armageddon would have been here by the time i was 16, i'm 19 now.
