once at our local kh, the families were told if they needed to 'spank' their children they needed to do it inside the hall for now on and not take the child outside.
apparently, some neighbors reported one of the mothers for child abuse and called up the hall and told the elders that if they see it again they will call the police.. .
by no shocker the mother was still able to keep her baby...
An elder who was REALLY close with my mother used to take us to the kingdom hall basement and whoop us (my brother and I) if we acted up.
(Please keep in mind that we are from a west indian background so "A WHOOPING" is common to people of the carribbean)

In the congregation i was in before i moved. There was a married elder who had a child with another witness sister. She had an unbelieving mate and everyone assumed that it was his, however, when the child was 3 or so, the sister confessed and the elder nonchalantly dissasociated himself.

no more am i just a watcher who feels completely aloof of the world's struggles and injustices.
i dont look at activists, philantropers and humanitarians and silently laugh to myself because i know that whatever they are doing is a waste of time (because the end is so close).. i was listening to that song by the flaming lips called "do you realize?

For some reason, I've always felt that i was in a sort of higher level of consciousness , it bewildered me and other witnesses i've grown up with as to why other people couldnt see that the world was definently coming to an end.
I think one of the unique things about being a JW is the sense of security, that you are beyond the mediocrities of life and that you are detached from the world's troubles.
What do you guys think?
valentine's day is tuesday and i was just wondering; for those who still have mates in dub land...is it tempting to maybe buy them flowers or insist on a dinner date on such a lovey-dovey day?
i saw some yellow roses on sale today at walmart and was tempted to get some for my mom then i realized i'd better wait till after the 14th.

i was surfing around the other day and came across a guy citing the existence of the guinea worm as a sign that god really doesnt care about us.. the guinea worm is a parasitic organism that is eaten by water fleas.. they in turn, are consumed by human beings from contaminated water.
the stomach acids kill the water flea and the parasite is released into the human intestine.. the parasite grows and within a year it potrudes out of the skin so it can release eggs.
(at this point it can get up to 3 feet in length).. the parasite is extremely difficult to remove and the only effective method is to wrap the potruding portions around a stick and pull it out an inch at a time for several weeks.

I think the worse/most interesting thing about this parasites is that it ONLY effects humans.
It was as if it was specifically designed to hurt humans (or if you dont believe in god, specifically evolved to use humans).

I was baptized when i was 11. I dont even remember praying about it. Its not till 9 years later that i've realized the stupidity of it all.
