it was amazing...................very compelling, and thought provoking.. one of the most upsetting things was towards the end when he revealed that of all 96 (not sure of that number) members of congress (senate and house) only 1 member had a child in the military, actively serving.
I think that Moore should do a movie on Kerry and his blantant lies and inconsistencies. I'm tired of hearing about Bush when those who oppose Bush have every right to do so, yet ignore a man who lied about so much. POW's, massacars, had Robert F Kennedy speech writer do his speech before congress for him. Supported communisum etc. Published a book with a cover that trivializes Marines raising the flag on Iwo Jima after its capture from the Japanese during World War II by holding the flag up side down. His medals he 'threw away' goes on and on.
Anyone who does not like someone is quick to point out and find fault and can do so, but can we please stop with the Kerry is so much better? He is just as bad supporting this War in Iraq when he himself from the above book ( he WROTE) KNEW the atrocities of war and what would happen to our soldiers, allies and to those Iraqis who lost their lives as well.
We will not quickly join those who march on Veterans' Day waving small flags, calling to memory those thousands who died for the "greater glory of the United States." We will not accept the rhetoric. We will not readily join the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars -- in fact, we will find it hard to join anything at all and when we do, we will demand relevancy such as other organizations have recently been unable to provide. We will not take solace from the creation of monuments or the naming of parks after a select few of the thousands of dead Americans and Vietnamese. We will not uphold traditions which decorously memorialize that which was base and grim.
-- John Kerry, in "The New Soldier"
He states the above BUT goes onto film a 'spot' for polotical purposes when running for Senate in front of the Vietnam Memorial to pull at the heart string of Americans.
I understand there is *some* truth and a message in Moores film, BUT anyone can make a film as such depicting what they want to convey.
Cassi
Edit to add:
While Moore is at is please include Edwards' ambulance chasing 50 million dollar fortune as well.

Casseline--you're talking about Bob Kerrey, not John Kerry. A common mistake, but a mistake nonetheless.
On May 6, 2001 Tim Russert interviewed Senator John Kerry on Meet the Press. In the course of the interview, Mr. Russert asked the senator about his views on Vietnam.MR. CROSBY NOYES (Washington Evening Star): Mr. Kerry, you said at one time or another that you think our policies in Vietnam are tantamount to genocide and that the responsibility lies at all chains of command over there. Do you consider that you personally as a Naval officer committed atrocities in Vietnam or crimes punishable by law in this country?
SEN. KERRY: There are all kinds of atrocities, and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50 calibre machine guns, which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search and destroy missions, in the burning of villages. All of this is contrary to the laws of warfare, all of this is contrary to the Geneva Conventions and all of this is ordered as a matter of written established policy by the government of the United States from the top down. And I believe that the men who designed these, the men who designed the free fire zone, the men who ordered us, the men who signed off the air raid strike areas, I think these men, by the letter of the law, the same letter of the law that tried Lieutenant Calley, are war criminals.

This is tame compared to other things he said he did, I do not have the time to find them now... but this is John Kerry speaking above not whomever you are speaking of--- no 'mistake' on what John Kerry said he did to the those in Vietnam. Cassi

That isn't the point.

Did Moore say how many of these men's children had served and are now released? There is a point IMO and he is skewing the facts.

What about good ol Kerry?
Here I go again and I know people are tired of hearing me say it, but it seems that no one will respond to his torture and atrocities committed in Vietnam. He admitted doing things which are war crimes as stated by Geneva Conventions, but many support his bid to be our next president? Simply amazing to me. If he can do such with his own hands what will he order if we are at war again, what will be brushed under the proveribal rug?

This intrigued me Mulan so I looked it up, my first thought was how many had children who were of age and found this:
Two cases in point: First, Moore points out that of the 535 members of the current Congress, only one (Sen. Joseph Biden Jr., D-Del.) has a son in the military.
"Damning evidence, to be sure," notes Salt Lake City Weekly movie critic Scott Renshaw. "Except Moore doesn't differentiate between 80-year-old senators with 50-year-old kids, 29-year-old representatives with toddlers and those who actually have children of reasonable induction age. Tennessee Rep. John Tanner, who gets waylaid by Moore, has a 35-year-old daughter and a 33-year-old son. It's a tirade, and a sloppy one at that."
Cassi, still have not seen the movie

Hi Cassi,I don't care for the Kerry/Edwards ticket but I must point out that if they had released the video, they would be called all manner of names by the right and all manner of suspicion would be raised. If they don't they are viewed with suspicion also. It's election year and the right will take umbrage at any action the so called left takes. This group can't win with the right, no matter what they do.
Robyn
I don't care for either side. On one hand we have Kerry who denounces Bush for the Abu scandal, yet commited far worse atrocties as an officer in war. He chooses a running mate who is an ambulance chaser that has made health insurance and care almost unatainable to many due to rising costs incured by doctors. There was one case he was offered an out of court settlement for something like 11.5 million, but went to court anyway and won 16.5 million.
The first settleent offer was more than enough. In a way we as tax payers are paying his salary and it stinks. I will look it up but the numbers are close. Then we all know about Bush and Cheney, Halburtrin and this god forsaken war.
You speak of suspicion but it's already there, because they won't release such and this just makes it look worse, perhaps worse than it really is.
On a lighter note Robyn,
I have one of your poems on my fridge and have never looked at french vanilla coffee the same way again! I've missed you!!
