  Why Sex??

  since being de-borged, i have come to appreciate that the answer to the old blue book "did man get here by evolution or by creation" is probably "evolution".. one thing about evolution which is still hard to explain is why or how did sexual reproduction evolve?

  of course now that we have it, i guess most of us would not like to go back to the "old" way, of either dividing ourselves into 2, or else self-fertilizing ourselves from our own 2 sets of sex-organs (ewwww!!!).

  i know a lot of men try this anyway but to no avail.......... but what motive force could have existed to actually evolve sexual reproduction in the first place?

  Cassiline, its the plant angle which fascinates me.....did humans evolve from moss?

  Slam dunk, I thought the reasoning behind it sounded 'sound'.

  And how does it work : aren't all babies female till they are some days or weeks old then something triggers the embryo to turn male?

  All babies start out as XX , remain at XX or will become XY or XO ( both sexes)

  And crocodile eggs can be heated in a certain way to ensure the baby croc is a boy or a girl....

  I never knew this, very strange indeed.

  Isn't it all so strange??? Just as the agnostic dyslexic said, Maybe there is a dog after all.

  We have a proprietory right to life (as odd as it may sound for me to say that).

  Maybe that's it I don't feel as if I have the right to live my life as I am now, because I am going aginst everything that was taught to me for 26 years?

  Hummmm lots of deep thought needed on this subject. I'm off for the night Craig, speak to you tomorrow!

  If it wasn't for sex, the miserable batch of beings called "humans" would not continue to infest this planet, and all would be well.

  We don't need no stinkin' sex no more we have turkey basters and petrie dishes, thanks to the evloving human brain we now have no need for ourselves!

  If we are to avoid yet again being fooled by others, then what's the option?

  I guess we would not experience life, and continue to live (rot?) in the past. When I realize that "Life it Terminal" it is something I find hard to move past.

  Cassi, who needs to stop living in the past and move on.

  The Christian concept of spiritual resurrection, and the JW (though not exclusive to them) concept of physical resurrection, are by no means the limit of possibilities.

  It's based on my feeling now of fool me once shame on me, fool me twice...I just feel even if I were to subscribe to a dirrerent set of beliefs I would not truly believe because I would have a niggling ( thank you E-man ) feeling in the back of my head, this can't be true. Make any sense? Cassi

  nice try mommy.......... i picked up my girl at daycare and just before i got her, she had an accident and wet her panties.

  she didn't tell anyone so i changed her and thought to cheer her up i would take her to the park.

  we went and got new clothes and sandals (stupid, stupid).

  I do. I believe that most of my fear lies with the fact I can not grasp that I will not live forever as I was taught in the JW faith.

  It?s changed my whole notion of God and faith I believe learning the truth about religion. I think with the knowledge that this religion was full-o-lies, all religion must be. Therefore I find it hard to put my faith in any afterlife and believe of any higher power.

  I feel that a gap is in my life and I am searching for something to sooth the fact I will not live forever and I am so very confused as to what I am looking for. I realize I am looking for a replacement of sorts and religion will not fill the void that I now experience.

  Hey Pope,

  Sexual reproduction arose as a means to increase genetic variablity through
  sucessive generations. In sexual reproduction the genetic marterial from
  TWO distinct individuals is combined whereas asexual production only uses
  the genetic material of ONE individual. Sexual reproduction is possible
  without sexual organs. In fact it first appeared in single celled
  organisms. For example a green algae known as Chlamydomonas has a primitive sexual reproduction whereby two separate strains
  (plus and minus) will combine to exchange genetic material. As these single
  celled organisms evolved into multicellular organisms the sexual
  reproduction systems became more advanced and developed into discrete
  sexual organs. Lower plants such as ferns and mosses
  were some of the first organisms to appear with sexual organs, ie a "male
  plant" and "female plant" and provide a good basis for learning about the
  evolution of sexual reproduction. For a good web-site which details the

  I had no earthly clue, but I thought this a good question and felt the need to look it up finding this explanation, sounds pretty good to me.

  i have to admit that we gave our first two kids 'hebrew' names.

  i don't want to identify my children online but suffice to say that we had at least some sense in that we opted for safe names of the samuel and daniel type - no melchizedeks!.

  however, in our city we had a javan a samson [gen 10:2] and even a zechariah!
