The Judicial Committee Has Been Formed
by LennyinBluemont inwell, the hard, rusty gears of theocratic justice has begun to turn, and the teeth have caught me.
for those of you who read my earlier threads, in february of 2005, a "sister" i had known for almost 30 years contacted me and wanted to know what i had learned in the years since i had faded.
after granting me full assurance of confidentiality, in writing, i disclosed to her the un scandal.

Lady Liberty,
Thank you for the empathy. I'm sorry they're giving you a hard time, too. Printing your own literature, eh? It reminds me of how they dissed those that were "cleaned out" in 1980, followed by insinuations of wife-swapping, homosexuality, etc.
Elsewhere, what about the elders passing around these emails, plainly identified as confidential. Each time it's passed from one to the next without my permission, isn't ecclesiastical confidentiality being trivialized yet again and made meaningless? They've admitted on tape having emails I've written. I really would like to get them on tape admitting to having these specific emails, where the recipient promised me confidentiality. Of course, I kept a copy of the entire exchange with that Cretan. (Oops, I think I've offended Cretans by classifying her with them!) But really, how can they claim ecclesiastical confidentiality, when they violate it with impunity? (I'd much rather go after the elders.)

Sorry. To clarify, when I say my wife "left", I meant left the org, not me.
Yes, I was an elder and I understand, having been on many Judicial Committees, exactly how it works, and I'm not afraid of these guys at all. They're lightweights. I can walk all over them with facts and questions and scriptures that they can't begin to answer. It's really tempting to go into the "lion's den" and show them what paper tigers they really are. Then I could copy the meeting to a CD and mail it out with the letter to all our JW friends. But part of me keeps saying, "Just don't bother."
Thanks again, ya'll

jgnat, I did write her a final email telling her off and letting her know that her betrayal and dishonesty was the strongest argument against her position of defending the Society. She wrote back telling me that she had deleted that email without reading it, and didn't want to read anymore "vomit".
Also, someone asked about my wife. She left in April of 2005.
Thanks again, all. Really appreciate the time you've taken here.

Thank you, everyone, for your comments. And yes, Bob, as I said in the PM, that is some letter! Thanks for permission to use it, or parts thereof. As to suing the "sister" that outed me, first of all, her guarantee in writing is in an email, so, without a signature it may be hard to prove. She could, after all, use theocratic warfare to deny it. Also, she, to my knowledge, does not have deep pockets. Now the elders. . . . .well they drove up to my home in a nice new shiny black Cadillac Escalade. Ooooooooo, men in black! I'm still having moments when I'd like to confront them and throw a barrage of questions at them regarding the UN, how is it not a violation of neutrality, and how dare they accuse me of violating a doctrine of political neutrality, when the org was humping the UN for ten years.

Well, the hard, rusty gears of theocratic justice has begun to turn, and the teeth have caught me. For those of you who read my earlier threads, in February of 2005, a "sister" I had known for almost 30 years contacted me and wanted to know what I had learned in the years since I had faded. After granting me full assurance of confidentiality, in writing, I disclosed to her the UN scandal. She then turned all my emails over to elders in my area. (I'm in Virginia, she's in California, but used to be here.) About a month later, two elders came to visit me and my wife for four hours (session recorded, transcript available) in which they were unable to answer so many questions, and of course, were totally unaware of the UN issue. At the time my wife was still attending meetings. (I stopped in Feb of 01) Then, that was it. Didn't hear a peep out of em. Not until June 27 of this year, when I got a phone call from two other elders (it's kinda scary to be an elder and call somebody all by yourself, ya need to have your buddy with ya as backup), verbally harassing me to confess to attending an anti-war rally (which I didn't, but did support a local peace group, which I didn't volunteer, of course.) The transcript of that phone conversation is also contained on an earlier thread. Interesting they never brought up the UN issue.
Last Wednesday, the 9th, I got a phone call at work, after my wife had told them I was very busy on an important job. They tied me up for 25 minutes, in front of my customer, who kept staring at me, wondering why I wasn't working on his job. It seems they did some searching on the internet and found an article I had written for the local peace group, which they posted on their web site. Now they had the goods on me and let me know that a Judicial Committee had been formed. (Still no mention of the UN scandal.) They wanted to know when I will meet with them. I told them that as I had mentioned in the previous phone conversation, I would not speak with anyone until the name of my accuser was revealed to me, and the emails mentioned in that conversation were presented for me to examine. If they were refusing to provide that, then I would not be meeting with them.
Then I had a change of heart, and decided I'd like to go down in flames, making a lot of noise, by using the Committee Hearing as a platform to lambaste the Society for the UN deal, of course, recording the whole event. But now, the weekend has passed, and I've decided that even the cathartic value of that confrontation may not be worth the perception in their eyes that I am continuing to submit to this corrupt arrangement. My refusal to attend their inquisition, I guess, will be my final act of rebellion. And so, 30 years of Watchtower slavery comes to an end. All thoughts welcome.

I think it would be great if we could all organize a special international convention of X-JWs. I'd just love to meet you all, and I'm sure most feel the same way. I could go for a cruise, or a week in Fiji, or Alaska, or. . . . . .Brooklyn???????????? Wouldn't it be great to make a mighty shout of praise to Ray Franz in gratitude for his integrity?

80% of Near Death Experiencers Can't Wear Watches...
by FMZ ini have had about 5 digital watches since my nde when i was young.
every single one of them reset itself regularly.
2 of them i gave away because of the problems i had, and their new owners (my father and brother) never had a problem with the watches since..

OK, I've got to weigh in on this one. For 20 years I have had a business installing wireless security systems. About three years ago, I had a customer for whom I installed a system and provided him and his wife each with a wireless keychain remote. After about two months his stopped working, and so I assumed it was defective and replaced it for him. Over the course of the next year, I replaced his unit four more times and finally told him I would just have to refund his money. His wife never had any problem with hers. Then one day she told me that his mother cannot wear a watch, it just stops working. I called the manufacturer and they conferenced with four engineers. I didn't bring up anything about the guy's mother and watches. The head engineer then said to me, "You're not going to believe this, but three of our four engineers here have heard that there are some people who cannot wear watches. They just stop." I just assumed that this guy was putting out some kind of energy that yinged the yang on the remote device and zeroed it out. I even had him swap with his wife and as long as it was with her it worked fine. Of course, hers stopped working when he used it. One thing's for sure. There's a lot more going on around us than we're aware of. My two cents.

Why, why, why?

Control is the goal. Fear is the tool to get er done.
According to psychologists the fear of loss is a more powerful motivator than the desire for gain.
Do you think more JWs are motivated by a desire to be in the new earth, OR by a fear of missing out and just being dead forever? (And in the meantime losing their family and friends.)

Reading 'apostate' sites? - Can you be disfellowshipped?
by Zico ini would like to make it aware to some friends that i have read some 'apostate' sites, so i can share my doubts with them.
i'm hoping that they'll keep what i tell them to themselves, but what i was wondering is, if i did this could i risk getting disfellowshipped if my friends told the elders?
all my family and friends are still very much a part of the organisation, and so i am not ready to be shunned yet.

Reading apostate literature is NOT a disfellowshipping offense. Sharing what you have read with other JWs IS a disfellowshipping offense. (This is assuming the
prosecutorselders abide by the Society's directions.) Example: The elders here have known for at least 3 years that I have read apostate literature, but no action has been taken. A little over a year ago, at her urging, I shared a bit about the UN with a "sister" I had known for 25 years and trusted implicitly in her assurance that anything I told her would remain strictly confidential. She then turned me in. The wheels have turned slowly here, but last week I had a phone call from two elders who want to talk to me regarding a judicial matter. Your mileage may vary.Uncle Lenny
