i appreciate all my friends who stop to read what i write and post.
you help me more than you know simply by being there as a sense of 'family of friends' for me to talk to and 'share' thoughts with.i guess if i didn't have stories left to tell or people to listen, i could pack it in and join elon musk in a colony on mars.january 15, 2020. .
which world is this?_________________when the doctor pulled my screaming body out of mom all those 7 decades ago, i landed in a post-wwii world.it was--compared to today's world--an alien planet.the world i live in today has nothing in common with the world in which i grew up.there were no cell phones back then--there were black telephones with a dial-tone and an operator who placed your call.everywhere you found telephone booths!

remember those pesky scriptures about 'put faith in jesus and you will be saved' & 'getting baptized without delay'?
well, in this time of the end ™ we know better, and the latest march 2020 study edition wt sums it all up:.
before you can get baptized, there are a few other things you need to do.
They didn't seem to understand that baptism , as taught by the Society , is supposed to be a "public declaration"
of dedication - all they knew was that it really was about time they got baptised - a kind of JW rite of passage.
Did you go over the questions with me?
That was me, nearly [gulp] 40 years ago.
"About time to get baptized" - yep, that was it in its entirety.
the rise and rise of paul gillies?.
here are a view details about the 57-year-old paul stuart gillies.. .
2011: appointed as a director of international bible students association (ibsa) on 2 november having resigned as a director of watch tower bible and tract society of britain on the same day.
I was thinking that he'd have to have a more "prominent" role on JW Broadcasting first....but they added Cook to the GB and he had never shown up on the broadcasts, and in fact didn't even show up after his appointment until maybe a year later.
So it still might happen.

Hey! Now we know what Acts 8:37 says!
Acts 8:36-38 in the current version of the Revised NWT:
36 Now as they were going along the road, they came to a body of water, and the eunuch said: “Look! Here is water; what prevents me from getting baptized?” 37* —— 38 With that he commanded the chariot to halt, and both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.
How it will appear in the 2021 Re-revised NWT:
36 Now as they were going along the road, they came to a body of water, and the eunuch said: “Look! Here is water; what prevents me from getting baptized?” 37* [and Philip said unto him: "let the coordinator of the body of elders know that you want to get baptized. He will ask some elders to meet with you. They will review with you the basic Bible teachings that you have learned. They want to make sure that you understand those teachings and that you are aware of the importance of dedication and baptism. If they agree that you are ready, they will inform you that you can get baptized at the next assembly or convention"]. 38 With that he commanded the chariot to halt, and both Philip and the eunuch went down [to the local Kingdom Hall to begin the months-long process to see if the eunuch really qualified].
i have just got of the phone with a relative complaining about the convention venue.
as far as my relative is concerned wt can do no wrong, so for him to say what he did it must of been bad.
the venue where the convention was held was described to me as a “tin shed with no air conditioning”.
Remind him that the information at given at the convention will appear in future issues of the Watchtower
as it always has since they started having them.
And the entire convention program is available via streaming, if he can convince some elder to give him the rights to view it.
the co got on his hind legs for the public talk and repeated twice "tolerance promotes division".
then backed it up by saying that if one group march for some right, another group will march for the opposite.. so jws are intolerant and proud of it.
f@@@k me sideways.. may explain that the baptism tally was 0..
That's been a more and more common theme in JW "literature" and assembly talks - tolerance (in the context of sexual orientation) is BAD, capital B, full stop.
i was on the phone with a long-time friend from my original congregation north of new york city and she told me that the 'shit hit the fan' when a brother (long-time elder i know well) got remarried about 6 weeks after his wife died.. he was about 60 and his new wife (a pioneer that i also know) was about 50 and had never been married.. it became a huge issue when the co came.
due to all the talk and chatter in the congregation, he even included in one of his talks without naming names, that marriage is something sacred and that when and how people get married is a personal matter as long as it conforms to bible standards.. anyway, it shut everybody up.
any similar experiences in your current/former congregations?.
Speaking of marrying GB members....
I heard a few years back that whenever Sanderson (never married) was the guest speaker at an assembly, there was always a trail of single sisters trying to catch his attention.
It was just a rumor, but it sounded plausible. Imagine how many of those long-time pioneer "40 year old virgins" (50? more?) would want to jump to the front of the perks line and live as a JW princess. Wife of a GB member is about as high as a woman can go in the organization. Might even be worth putting up with a bald, obese, uneducated, sexually inexperienced dude like Sanderson.
Anyone else hear any Sanderson / single sister rumors?
pronunciation is so hard.
the butchered word this time is scourge pronounced as skorj.
4 different people, maybe because the reader did it first.. these same ones also pronounce the w in sword.. a pet peeve of mine is blatantly not learning how to speak and pronounce the native tongue.

"Correct pronounciation is so important..."
i'm 43 and a divorced mother of 2. in january 2019 i met the man i thought i could spend the rest of my life with.
we were happy and even though our relationship wasn't perfect (like all relationships) i thought we had a chance and were building a life together with our young kids.
background on me - i've been divorced since 2012 after 12 years of marriage.
Account #12.478 (I think, literally) over the past year of "I'm a female non-JW, I started dating a JW man, then he dumped me because he wants to be a JW again".
All 12,478 stories are virtually identical.
Not sure what it all means.
the jw.org organization looks every passing day more and more like a building firm made in usa:.

To me, one of the interesting things was Losch. He gave the opening talk.
Just a few weeks before the annual meeting, at the Gilead graduation, he gave the talk on Armageddon date-setting, and how so many other people & groups had set dates which (obviously) were false, and the JWs had done that too (he specifically mentioned 1925 & 1975), but in that case, it wasn't really all that bad (so his argument went).
I noted in the thread covering that topic, that Losch "read the talk with all the warmth, feeling, and enthusiasm of a hostage reading his captor's statement at gunpoint." He was extraordinarily nervous, mispronouncing words, stumbling, stuttering - a complete mess.
In the GM opening talk, in contrast, he was far more animated, relaxed, and comfortable. As I noted in the other thread, he's never been a dynamic speaker, but by his standards, it was about as good as it gets.
I guess he really didn't like to have to discuss the WT's failures.
