  i have been df-ed for almost 9 years.

  just out of curiosity, has anyone decided to find another religion or belief after being jw?

  i struggle with my feelings, my mom and brother, aunt, cousins are all jw.

  seriously this time.

  its not the nicotine that drives me nuts (i chew the gum) it's that hand mouth desire or lack of it.

  i am finding myself chewing on pencils or whatever else is around me.

  I haven't touched a cigarette in, oh, 4yrs or so. It was definitely the hardest thing to do in my life. Harder than leaving the witnesses or divorce. I accepted that I will always be a smoker, I just choose not to. It gave me power, rather than say, I am giving up, which sounds powerless. It took a couple of go's and then something just shifted. I lost the desire....

  Talesin nailed it. It was so hard because cigarettes were always there, in any situation, when humans were unreliable. I finally became responsible for myself and excepted myself, "good" and "bad"

  How is it that well educated and financially stable people become Jehovah's Witnesses?

  when i was growing up most of the jws around me were poor and lower middle class.

  some were middle class, but very few were upper middle class.

  only (maybe) about 1% were college educated.

  i really don't care much for jw's at my door, or at anyone's door.

  this chauvinistic, fanatical bully-a-hole, however, is one of the worst examples of a christian i have ever seen.

  the jw's handled themselves very well in the face of this ridiculous bullying and taunting by this so-called christian attempting to school the jw's about god and the bible.

  Can I tell another?

  I met a very beautiful woman in my hometown and we hung out for a bit. At one point her younger brother was visiting from their home city and I met him once, very briefly. On that same journey to India (as above) I was stuck in Delhi. It was 50 degrees Celsius, just before the monsoon. I was too tight to pay for air con, so was sweltering under a fan in my room. As happens in India, the power failed. It was impossible to sleep, so I walked out into street and it was literally cheek to jowl. A great image of hell. I managed to find a bar with air con and bought a beer, drinking as slow as was possible, just to cool down. I finally left and it was like walking into a dream. The crowd parted for an elephant to pass, yes he/she had a mamoot. Then a cart with oxen squeezed through. There were "holy" cattle wandering about eating garbage and then out of the human tide comes an arm and some one yelling my name. At first I ignored them. You learn to do that in India. He persisted, so I squeezed through and yes, it was that woman's brother...

  Oh if anyone thinks we had similar lives, so were in the same area, no. We both were only tourists to the Dalai Lama. In Rome don't you visit the Vatican? Actually, we had nothing in common except for music (he was a big DJ in London). We spoke of our differences, not similarity. He was studying Reiki and wanted out of the club scene in London. Actually, I was amazed that he remembered me, as I was still "placing him" when he walked off into the masses in Bangkok.

  I met a fellow in McCleod Ganj in northern India. He was from the UK and we met while attending the Dalai Lama's headquarters. We ended up chatting for hrs later in a coffee shop. I never took his details.. Two yrs later, I am in Bangkok (Thailand) and am wandering around the incredibly crowded streets, trying to buy a present for my son. I know the city fairly well, so wasn't concentrating too much on my whereabouts, plus I had earphones in listening to music. I suddenly became aware that I had walked in a circle and was back where I started! At that moment, the English guy walks up with no surprise on his face and says "Hullo x, you look well." I barely started to talk and he was off again!! Yes, he did look a lot like an alien! LOL! The odds of meeting at that instant in a different country and in the maze that is Bangkok....

  my own was ac/dc at the hamersmith odoen london 1980, the highway to hell tour with bonn scott, they were at their creative peak with their best line up with there best album, you had to be there to understand !!
