Races - where do they come from?
by googlemagoogle inthis one goes out to all the evolution maniacs out there, king james bible bumpers are also welcome to present their view.
even when i still believed in the bible as god's word, i never understood how (at least) three races came from 2 persons.
i sometimes thought, maybe adam was black and eve white, but where does the mongol race come from then?

If you do something contrary to what the bible teaches, how do you react?
by JH inso many verses in the bible are so clear.
example: don't steal, don't fornicate, don't have sex with a person of the same sex....etc.
some verses couldn't be clearer.

Christ had it right when he said love fulfills (the) law.
Reckon you can't go past that as a guide.
Does this action spring from love? As opposed from guilt or requirement?

Mankind came from one society which spread out?
by Sirona ini'm currently reading a book called "heaven's mirror" by graham hancock.. it theorises that the ancient egyptian pyramids, certain monuments in cambodia and mexican pyramids are built according to an ancient system which seems to have been mysteriously spread across the globe, sometime prior to 10,500 bc.. they base this theory on commonalities between the sites, most especially significant astrological correlations which are astounding.. here is a link to graham hancocks site with a description of the book http://www.grahamhancock.com/library/hm/default.htm.
what i found surprising is that he promotes many jw ideas.
firstly he comments upon how many of the cultures report a "global cateclysm" in their mythology.

My sister is about to enter her doctorate in theology. She has seen it all, including the jws. Her masters was on Mary (no not the "virgin" the other) and she espouses incredibly liberal feminist theory.
Just because it's religious study doesn't mean it's fanatical right wing propaganda. Sounds like a thoughtful man.
I too reckon he's a keeper.

My Dream - Your Thoughts
by LouBelle inwell my dream last night was rather intersting.
dreamt i went back to the kingdom hall and everyone had access codes & these computerised dog collars on (neon lights and all) my code had expired & i never recieved a dog collar.
so i go off to the reception desk & there's this very prim & proper witness lady with her flashing dog collar ticking away at her pee cee.

For me dreams are better interpreted by the emotions felt rather than content. You mentioned panic, that doesn't need interpreting. Very understandable in your situation. Keep your chin up. Many have been there before you...

Welcome Sonnyboy. I liked your stuff.
That's why the ancients had many gods, different situations. There was a prankster, Loki ,who put up baubles for humans to grasp at. It was believed that humans occasionally needed to go to their dark side(greed lust agression) to appreciate the light.
That's why I love the ancient beliefs around gods. They weren't real beings but ways of understanding and expressing our deepest urges and desires. More juicy and real than than the cranky old magistrate jehovah

Sirona I thought it is interesting!
I have been to Angkor Wat in Cambodia and it is truly amazing. I was overwhelmed by the height of engineering a thousand years ago. The mathematical design is pure genius but..
Sadly for the author it is an exact copy of the Hindu heaven. Mount Meru etc. There is no correlation to a world wide flood. I would imagine he is referring to the freezes that covers the walls. A very casual attempt at research shows that the flood scene is actually the Hindu story of creation, the stirring of the cosmic liquid from which life sprang. Hindu philosophy far preceeds the bible, despite what the wtbts says.
Hope this helps

ARE JW SISTERS ALLOWED TO CARRY COFFINS?
by steve2 inrecently i was amazed to read in another thread that jw females are not even allowed to walk up and down the aisles counting those in attendance.
the poster said jw women literally "don't count" - a brilliant play on words.
i guess i had never thought about it before, but it got me wondering about all the behind-the-scene work jw females do, but their invisibility in the public arena.
