Who is your favourite thinker?
by The Rebel inhaving recently read orwells 1984, i was impressed with how he understood that both politicians and people abuse language.
this further confirmed to me how the w.t had deceived me by using words to distort reality.
the book 1984, also contains many other great thoughts of george orwell.. of course there have been many other great thinkers, buddah, darwin, freud, einstein and marx come to mind.

C.G Jung Aldous Huxley Tolkein and always enjoy Mark Twain's observations. All could be classed as "ahead of their time" but I guess they had (the possible over) confidence to push their passion into their study at all costs. -

My Experience with Wordly Guys
by LaurenM insorry, two posts in a day..but i need to vent something: so far my experience with "worldly" guys has not been the best 1. my first guy experience was with a dude who left state and never came back 2. a coworker asked me to netflix and chill and i did 3. a guy wanted to sext me all the time but never took me out on a date and i did 4. a guy who took me on a great date but then asked me up to his apartment immediately after and then didn't call me after 5. finally, another great date, until after the guy texted me asking for nude pics..told him no!
so basically i've concluded that i had been giving off a vibe that i had no self respect and that was confirmed by me allowing them to use me as a sex object..but i'm hoping that not all worldly guys are like this, and when i start acting like i have self respect, they will treat me like that too?
is that a good assumption?

So ... Russia and Nato at war? Should we be worried?
by Simon init seems unbelievable but turkey (a nato member state) shooting down a russian jet fighter on their syrian border seems to be "meh" news and no one is too bothered about it too much.. the world seems a bit upside down right now.
i don't think a lot of countries really know who the hell they are fighting and who is and isn't on their side in it all and really what is going on.. smaller incidents than this have led to major conflicts in the past but hopefully calm heads will prevail.
china shot down a us spy plane years ago and the world survived and forgot about it so things will move on i'm sure.. i'm guessing the price turkey pays for their gas supply from russia will be going up soon though.. man, that republican primary is sucking all the news attention from the room.

About 5 yrs ago I stayed in a villa owned by an old Dutchman in Bali. He was a retired Colonel with NATO. While having a beer he told me that when the USSR crumbled there was a crisis meeting in Brussels. NATO realised with no world enemy there would be no need for NATO. The next year there was a terrorist strike in Africa. He didn't say they organised it, they just let the intelligence slide....
So from what I can figure out NATO are pressing Russia to test their metal. Don't forget the Russians lost hundreds of civilians just a few weeks ago, they are pissed.
The danger in leaving major decisions affecting the whole world in military hands, you get a military response

Is it true? Heard a rumor WT postphones Disfellowshipping until further notice!!??
by Olivia Wilde ini am not sure if it's true but i heard from a good source that wt has given instructions to elders to postponed disfellowshipping members from wrong doing/gross sin until further instructions given by headquarters.
i heard some jws were just reproved either privately or publically.

OF DOGS AND BITES AND BIKES AND THINGS
by Terry inthe thought suddenly struck me plain and obvious: "these dogs won't stop until i'm good and bloody.".
there were two of them; a mixed breed of boxer and pit bull; clean, white--collared, tagged and--for some inexplicable reason, ferociously intent on tearing me to shreds!.
ah, but i'm getting ahead of myself.

Awful experience Terry.
When I read this it spurred a memory of a witness I knew many years ago and he is long dead. He approached a door and a woman was standing there with her German shepherd on a leash. Staring at him, she dropped the leash and the dog sprang at him. Now what the "lady" didn't know was that Bernie was an old hard man who had been fighting since he left the womb and had shot numerous people before becoming a jw. He had no fear.
Old Bernie steps to his left and gives this mongrel the quickest left hook sending it across the hard absolutely unconscious. Didn't even drop his witnessing bag....

Sorry Sabin but your interpretation is to put it mildly is possibly the opposite of what was going on at the time. I was searching for "truth" and needed to be strong in that search.
To say it was a nightmare just shows you have little understanding of the subconscious and its workings.
Talesin nailed it

Oh and as an aside. While fighting, I yell to the children to get out! They all escape unhurt...
