now for all the scientists out there this is not a question of proof or anything along those lines.
for my part i choose to believe in a god because i honestly believe there is one (though i did start doubting for a little while) i've always felt that there was more to our existance on earth - and that doesn't stem from me wanting to live forever or as a spirit, as i don't even know if that will happen.
i also believe in him because many many times when i could not carry on, on my own strength, i managed to pulled through.
I believe in God because He has done so much for me. He has helped me in times of trouble, he keeps me strong and gives me courage.
God is love. I believe when I stray from doing what He wants me to do I get into difficulty. Yet when I ask for forgiveness and help.....He helps me. I love the Lord.

Now let's define simply light years
Light years really tells us how long it will take to get from point A to point B in space.
It does not mean that point B was created millions of years ago.
Take an ant for instance: Imagine the little bug trying to get from Africa to South America. How many light years would he take? Yet Africa and South America are land divided by sea.
So is earth divided by space. God is a BIG GOD.

It is a fact that time passes on the Earth at a different rate than it does in space.
It is also a fact that scripture teaches that "God stretcheth out the heavens".
Stars in general are quite far away and many at huge distances where the light that currently is emitteded would take far longer than 6000 years to get here.
However if God "stretched out the heavens" as He said He did, and this was done in less than 6 Earth days, then any light rays in transit would be able to continue to get to the Earth in a continuous manner. It would be interesting to model such a process using the equations of general relativity to see if the idea would hold water.
Stranger things have been modeled and designed to fit at least some aspects of reality. The Big Bang is a perfect example.
