A Sister and a Brother alone
by Lilycurly ini've been looking in the watchtower library all morning and can't find anything.. i know that jws have this rule (is it unwritten??
) where a brother and a sister should not be left alone in a car, a house, or any private place.
but my jw father says it's not so, and he spent a part of yesterday installing a computer program at a jw couple's house while the man was at work and the wife was at home.

OM- No, he was never an elder, but a MS once. He's not anymore because all four children and his wife left the JWs. Thanks for the link! He won't take that personaly though I think, he needs it to be very clear and specific (like "you shall not be in a house alone with a sister!!")...he's reading all his magasines though, so he might be reading that article even now.:)
Minimus- Is there a way to know and print exactly what is written in that book?

Mad Sweeney--Thanks! I read that article, but I fear it isn't direct enough...would you know a good one that refers to youngers people? That should apply to everyone no?
OM-The idea that leaving two people of opposite sex alone and they will fornicate is ridiculous of course! But if the WT says it, he should not ignore their councels right? That's hypocritical, and we want to show him that.

I've been looking in the Watchtower Library all morning and can't find anything.
I KNOW that JWs have this rule (is it unwritten??) where a brother and a sister should not be left alone in a car, a house, or any private place. But my JW father says it's not so, and he spent a part of yesterday installing a computer program at a JW couple's house while the man was at work and the wife was at home. (So, father and woman totally alone without supervison.)
Now my disasociated mother told him that according to his JW rules, this should not happen, especially since she's now an unbeleiver and my dad should be a great example. He just got mad and said she was completly off the track. My mother told me that it's not that she doesn't trust him, but my father follows so strictly the rule of not talking to me ( I left the JWs too.) that it angers her that he would not follow ALL the rules as well.
So we need precise articles and WT writtings where they clearly say this situation should not happen, even with older brothers and sisters. Help please?

Be honest, Do you really Enjoy Christmas?
by BluesBrother indansk's christmas tree thread got me to thinking .. in this house we do not celebrate since my wife is still a die hard dub.
i have no complaints about that, it was our joint choice for decades and i an the one that changed .but as witnesses we were always given the negative view of the holiday time :-.
"people feel that they just have to do it although they do not really want to".

Thankfully, I never felt guilty or unatural to celebrate, even the first year. I was totally excited about every little detail. Happy to sing every song I never dared sing even though they moved me so much since I was a child. Everything Christmas (and Halloween) I had been secretly fascinated with as a JW.
Three years later, I still enjoy every decoration I put up and setting the Yule tree is a moment I wait for all year. I'll never take the freedom to love what I love for granted. And I try really hard to keep everything traditional. I know I would not enjoy it as much if I celebrated the way many do now, with the Mall madness and gifts up to the ceiling. Instead, it's making cranberry sauce, paper snowflakes and popcorn garland for the tree.
We all agreed not to buy anyone gifts...sure, we can bake cookies and gift wrap them, things like that. But mostly, the Holidays are a time to be merry during the winter. To enjoy each other's company and love....and to eat a bit too much.

Crocs and assisted suicide attempts
by RisingEagle inthey are the shoes that everyone loves to hate.
they are also the shoes that have fans that will disregard what others in this world say about them in regards to fashion and taste.
if you wear and love them, you just don't care, your feet are happy and that's all that matters.
-
Lilycurly
Well I don't know if they make your feet smell...
But yes, they are dangerous, to both body and pride. They made me slip and fall on my ass on my way down the steps of a city bus. I didn't hurt myself seriously, but of course, everyone in the bus saw.
I still can't throw them away, I love my olive green fake-crocs. I'm just more careful.

Amazing backflip at the sunday meeting - Nostradamus and 2012
by stay young and beautiful inbeen lurking for many a year now.
my life works in seasons and i find myself doing at one time of the year something which i did at the same time the last year, and so on.
it's at around this time that i begin to focus on my old jw life.

Wow! Seriously?? I know they didn't mention anything about the Mayans....but I find it disturbing that both their calendar and Nostradamus pointed to 2012 as the end of the world....
The Mayan calendar hadn't been discovered in Nostradamus' time right??

I remember a few other Pagans and/or Wiccans from this forum.
I have looked into many religions and ways of thinking after I got out of the JWs, but "Pagan" is the one that just felt right to me.
No particular path, I still don't like beeing told what I should do to be spiritual. I guess you could call me an Elemental pagan, as I am very close to nature, and this is what I usually celebrate. Nature, seasons, etc, instead of Gods and Goddesses, even though they are interesting to research. That, or a Kitchen Witch.
