Hmmm...yes, that's what I'm scared of...If they did find it out, then I'd be in much more trouble then I already am with him. I don't think he even knows I read it...
They did use the word "draconien"..but you're right, they might have meant strict...

Yes, I think that's a correct choice of word when it comes to the WTS.
I looked some of their references up...and the "excellent results" are ones along the lines of an elderly woman who has left "the truth" and finally came back some time later because her two JW adult children phoned her to inform her that they would have to shun her because they loved her and would wait for her to come back. For a moment there, I thought you might be my uncle...my father's brother. The two of them never talked since my dad became a JW, so I don't even remember him. I think it might do some good that we both talk...
Anyway, you are right, I will read those parts of the Bible again and try to have my father look into it. It is very difficult though, because he is very closed up to the idea of talking about religion with me. I know for certain that if the WT was clear and told him that he could defenitly not talk to me, he would obey. It would hurt him, but he would. He'd never sneak around their backs like that, he would feel dirty and guitly. So that's not an option...
in the last chapter of the bible jesus is three times portrayed as saying: "i come quickly.
" the last of these three statements actually reads: "surely i come quickly.
" ( rev 22:7, 12, 20 ) does the passage of nearly 2000 years since those words were written indicate that this bible prophecy is trustworthy?
Not to sensible people, no. But any JW could arguee that 1000 years=1 day to God, and that that's what Jesus meant. 2 days would pretty fast!

I guess he would say that they do "love their ennemies" and that's why they are doing the shunning, because they love them so much they'd do anything to "save their lives" They really twist everything up in a crazy knot of non-sense.
My mother even told him of examples where the shunning policy destroyed families. Precise ones about grand-mothers who couldn't see their grand-children and the likes. He just closes up and answers that all those stories are made-up lies from apostates.

Yes, good points...but that's exactly why he is confused. He was happy to read the start, where it said that they were not the same situations...but then as the letter progresses it goes on and on about how faithful you must be, and make the right thing, and that I would be pushed to come back. (Wich kinds of imply that the shunning should happen.)
My father is really big on Jesus's teachings, so I think it might work if I found something really good.

Yes, it really pains me to know that my father is in so much turmoil, but it also angers me that he would do anything they say. Is his love for me not stronger then that? One of the reasons I wrote my DA letter was to make him realise that the society isn't all that great. Of course, when everything is perfect in your JW life, you don't see the problems, but when something like that happens, it might push someone to think things up a bit more....
I was trying to think up some of Jesus's citations and actions that would show that the WT's spiritual guilt-trip is wrong. Surely JWs would be more inclined to listen to what Jesus said then what that other apostle had to say?

Yes, the whole extended family is already informed about the whole situation, they already think it's the most unbeleivable, stupidest thing to do. I mean, Jeez! To anyone but JWs it just seems like total nonsense. So if it ever happens, it's going to make loads more negative publicity for the WT. Especially since me, my mother, my sister and many other family members like to talk around about it. Maybe that might make him reconsider...

I know, I'm very sorry about this whole ordeal...my hope is that he will realise that the Organization isn't all that great and holy. He is already experimenting divergent opinions amongst the elders...and this week he will hear from the Overseer. And while he himself is quite sure that he can still speak to me, if the Big Boss says he shouldn't, he will be pissed but will obey.
And I know for sure that he would NEVER sneak behind their collective back and see me...if they said jump of a bridge, he would do it. It's so sad. So he's clinging to points that might mean that the WT says it's okay, in this case. But the letter is pretty clear right? They are saying he can't right??
