Yes, but the JWs are probably some of the rare ones who claim to do things exactly like the early christian did. They seem to take a pride from comparing themselves to them. Trying to justify all those meetings, service and authority of "elders".

JWs are very much unlike early christians!
by greendawn indo you think the jws are really modelled on the early church as they like to claim?
i don't think they come close to it in terms of doctrine, authority structure, or mindset.
eg they know nothing about charity towards their own or fellow humans in general, they have a very centralised power structure, they kick against any advice given to the fds, they never celebrate the eucharist, they are jehovah rather than christ centred.

What do your kids say about shunning? Let's get a list going
by AlmostAtheist ini talked to zachary (my 7-year-old) about shunning.
i brought it up out of the blue, in the hopes of getting his real thoughts and not leading him into anything.. me: "hey zach.
if god told you to never talk to me again, what would you do?".

My 13 years old brother is kind of caught in the middle of the shunning policy. My father is even reading him bits of WT that talk about wether they should talk to DF or DA (me) people. But since my father himself doesn't know if he should, it's even more confusing to my little brother, poor kid. And I like to talk to him once in a while, to show him that I'm still a great person and that what we share as brother and sister is one of the strongest bonds. I want him to see the nonsense. So far, I think he does...he don't go the the meetings a lot, so the only brain-washing he gets is my dad's guilt-tripping.

Absolutely...it's sad that they can't see that they are not Jesus-imitators at all, but completly like those Pharisees.

My non-JW mother (who still knows how they work because my dad is one) finds that for them to call themselves "slaves" is very wrong, we all know the R&F are the real slaves.

We could take only one argument and it would prove the point, the sun stoping in the sky is priceless! Let's see someone try to explain that?

JW dating website?
by Darth Yhwh inim sure that this has been a topic here before, but i stumbled across this website and thought that it was pretty interesting.
i happed to see one guy's profile and thought that it was pretty pathetic.
browse around and let me know what your opinions are.

I remember being on a site like that when I was a JW. The only guy I met that was in my vicinity turned out to be a short 30 years old loser virgin with a superiority complex, dislike for animals and a racism problem. That's when I realised that people in the borg were defenitly not all that good.
Hmm...I think I'll try to find my old profile, might have a big laugh at myself!

Answer from the "Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses"
by Lilycurly insome of you might remember my situation....i have daed myself a while ago, and my father is the only jw in the family.
since i am very close to him and the family, he has read everything related to shunning, he even asked elders and even them are not sure.
so he wrote a big long letter to bethel to have an answer.
