yesterday, i did phone her - to tell of her of some family news that i felt she should know.
she told me they had spent the labor day removing wallpaper, that was already in the home when they moved in.

anyway.. despite all the undoubted and unargauble arguments about the wbts i just think its funny when y'all talk about the watchtower people being in it for the money...honestly, the bethel people, the elders (i know quite a few in the us and uk bethels), honestly, have you seen, their houses (if they have them), or their cars, or their suits, or their watches, or their shoes?
) even the branch people and the gb, honestly, these guys are not in it for the money, for the security maybe, a distasteful realisation many years ago that they have chosen the wrong path, that maybe they should have gone to university after all, but are stuck working as postmen (or overseers of packaging depts)..

"Money" comes in many different forms. I would say yes, they are in it for the "money" or some sort of reward. Many stay in there positions or aspire to these positions for a reward, either in this world or the next. They blindly hold to values and beliefs in this world hoping for a reward in the next.

That reminds me of the time the CO came to visit my father who was (used to be) an elder at the time. His work schedule changed since he worked at the local mines. Well the CO, came over with the body for a "shepherding" call. As a little background growing up my father kept everything he owned in very good condition, and as kids we had chores and were expected to keep things in good condition (not abuse them). Well they met in the guest dinning room, which is very nicely furnished. The CO lookes around and makes the comment that some brothers feel the need to work more than necessary due to becoming involved in materialism. My father went ape shit (never seen that happen till then), and said that the furniture the CO was looking at and alluding to was twenty years old, and paid for! That was the beginning of the end. Eventually he removed himself as an elder as he was tired of the crap.

So, what are your thoughts on this. My MS friend who was down a few weeks ago is a great guy, he just accepts the WTS hook line and sinker. I asked him about the NGO thing and he knew nothing of it. I told him that was the main reason for not going back. Well, he e-mailed me with some pics of his house (which I asked for). In my e-mail back to him I included the NGO letter from the UN and asked him to take a look at it. What do you think his response if any will be? If he bites where should I go with this, next step?

If you look at some of the oldest texts, Yahweh IS NOT the god of the universe, but the god of the Jews. Misdirected anger at god for the sins of men?! If the Adamic account is accurate then what did you or I do to deserve condemnation, other than some ill misdirected link that since they sinned we are guilty. Really, what sort of god needs a blood sacrifice? When your child sins against you do you make him kill the family dog on the alter in your back yard to appease you? If you cannot even imagine such a ritual, how much more so would you NOT expect it of a higher diety? Jesus taught us to forgive in heart and words, yet why is a blood sacrfice deed required for god to forgive man? Makes absolutely NO SENSE...

Ask yourself who is the "mighty" one being spoken of and "highest", then look at the original texts. It shows it to be El, which is distinct from Yahweh.
