Don't count on witnessing Watchtower's demise anytime soon.
by Roger Kirkpatrick inthe fact that there are pomi ex-jws who have been disfellowshiped or inactive for years who still live in constant fear of armageddon indicates that watchtower will manage to exist in one way or another for years, if not decades, to come.
watchtower, like all other religious cults, operate on the premise that "you can fool some of the people all of the time...and that's enough!

I don't get my hopes up but indicating factors aren't good. I think they've some serious contributors left in the game but we should know soon if more properties are on the chopping block re/all the lawsuits. Doubtful they'll magically vanish (unfortunately) but will be online carrying on. -

Serena William is 'fighting for women'?!
by LoveUniHateExams inso serena williams lost the us open final 6-2, 6-4 to naomi osaka, her japanese-american opponent.. williams received three code violations from the umpire, carlos ramos: .
1. a warning for illegal coaching (subsequently admitted by williams's coach).
2. a point penalty for smashing her racquet.

She's too old to be playing NOW and can't face reality.

San Francisco authorities go co-co bananas
by LoveUniHateExams inauthorities in sf have decided to 'sanitise' language around criminals.. because, yeah, that's the big problem facing san francisco, not drug abuse, gangs, violence, people crapping in the street or illegal immigrants.
glad to know they've got their priorities sorted.
under this stunning and brave new scheme, a criminal who's served his sentence will be referred to as a 'returning resident who was involved with the justice system'.

I think these are beyond "problems" and has reached epidemic proportions. Heart breaking -- SF is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, IMO, but who can enjoy it now. I don't care to return to this -- so cal is enough drama for me and here's hoping Orange County doesn't go "co-co bananas." The entire state is a liberal-infested horror story.

CHILD MOLESTATION: How have they been able to hide it for so long?
by Zoos ini was in the organization until 2011. .
i n-e-v-e-r heard of this problem.
not even a whisper.

Child molestation is part of the WT's history. I know of older woman (in 60s now) who was molested by an older loser JW in hall when she was only 8 or 10 in Minnesota. Why her mother would allow/trust a man to drive her home (her mother didn't attend that particular night) after the meeting is beyond me. It's not the only case I heard about.
What a filthy organization always condemning every other religion to deflect their own horrors/reputation. They kept it quiet and concealed for years by attacking the poor victim.

Yeah, looks like this approximation of 800,000 US JWs is close to the number in the new post with several other stats. Not many US witnesses but all unverified figures.
Bodies = donations.

Was it Lloyd Evans' youtube (linked month ago or so?) where someone stated there were roughly 800,000 JWs in the US! That is really a low figure and probably so wrong.

Would You Stop Buying A Product Because of Political Differences?
by minimus inwould you stop buying nike products because you didn’t like their politics?
conversely, would you give business to a company because you liked their political stand on a matter?
would you stop watching an entertainer because you disagree with their political perspectives?

Sometimes -- I tried to stop shopping at Nordstroms re/their political views (not my fave store for merchandise) but the customer service is unparalleled plus a couple of other stores were blathering same nonsense. Many women in the Seattle area made special trip to Nordstroms just to close their account - that's one of the best things about going to Seattle is shopping at their original store.
I'd like to give up the Starbucks' addiction and refuse to purchase Nike at this point. I didn't buy any Tom Ford items re/his refusal to design Melania Trump's gown/dress/whatever but Ralph Lauren exceeded anything Ford could have done. I survived and weakened purchasing Tom Ford items but only makeup.

Are the ^^^^ stats verifiable or WT cult's delusional figures? Seems they've been around 8 million + for quite awhile but could be. -

WT Teaching That You Can't Leave Behind
by jhine inafter posting on another thread it became apparent to me that it can be difficult for some ex jws to totally shake off all wt teaching , even after leaving the org.
do you still feel guilty going into a church for a wedding or a funeral .
can you bring yourself to celebrate birthdays or christmas .
-
LV101
Never really bought into their belief system re/blood, holidays like the hard liners and attended several weddings and a special church service or two with my in-laws in other churches the short time I was around WT crazy. I'd seen/experienced such evil with the cult members within a month that I didn't trust much of anything - thankfully!

mrquik - so sorry re/your oldest daughter/grandchildren. It's hard to believe a con game of religion has the power to do this. I'm glad you at least have another daughter - I'm not trying to undermine your situation.
Keep care!
