Between the member beggars and trying to own a cult library - providing work for losers and the money check in the drop box I would have had better odds at the sports book or roulette wheel with my eyes closed and I don't gamble nor know anything about it. I became suspicious when a big clique elder (most were very kind and nice but I didn't deal with any of them) spouted off of platform JWs were resolved to serve Jehovah whether the end was coming or not! WOW! No cubbies - nothin' in sight.

once i got out of bethel, i figured i had already given them six of the best years of my life (ages 18-24) working as a slave/drone in their factory, so i rationalized that i had given them enough... so over the next 27 years i would say maybe $200 bucks is it.
i think their whole "voluntary contributions" idea is biting them in the ass, because over all jehovah's witnesses are a cheap group people with a few exceptions.

I had a friend who refused to buy women's sweaters because so overpriced compared to mens (even designer and good quality). She'd buy men's sweaters and wear them -- over the top to me but she was very feminine and pulled it off. I think these inflated prices in the female category cross over to practically everything. Women pay for alterations at the department store -- men do not at a few stores. Men can get a $20 haircut - women pay that much (and more) for tipping. Nothing is fair.

Isn't she (Melania) partially covered in the "nude" photos? I don't think this is such a big deal -- she is a professional model and we art students have been doing life drawings since the 60s and the models are stark naked. Of course, society expects and places higher expectations of political leaders (or did) but how many of the presidents have done serious cocaine and other drugs - alcohol so not exactly choir boys.

LongHairGal - it's gone from bad to worse. I was always being hounded yrs. ago in one way or the other. They were poor back then or too lazy to work climbing the WT echelon to fit in with the hard-liner clique. Made me sick. They needed everything from cars to rent money plus taking advantage of every state aid program imaginable but kept it quiet. So much for the scripture if one doesn't work they don't eat. If they did work they expected a week's pay for 2 hrs. of ineptness.

I've received reports from liberal contacts working in area who have to walk by this horror to get to work and their families who visit - another attending college who is staying as far away from the worse area as possible.
